“Stunning Views”
Reviewed April 2, 2013

Considering the remote location of this hotel it is amazing. Our room was large, well equipped
and extremely comfortable. The staff, especially the organiser of excursions, were extremely helpful and friendly. We did have significant trouble with a door lock which took time and effort to sort out but was eventually repaired and the receptionist paid three visits to our room in her
attempt to resolve the problem. The walking guides were superb and very professional.Wifi was limited to the ground floor, but given the remote location and the fact that it was free, one could hardly complain and the lounging areas on the ground floor were very comfortable and attractively furnished with stunning views. We found the food rather less exciting than in other hotels on this trip and quite expensive, but, again, one has to make allowances for the remoteness.

Stayed here 2 nights during our trip to Chile. The hotel is fabulous in the most wonderful location. We were fortunate to be upgraded to a superior room and had the wonderful view. Also as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary they kindly provided us with a bottle of champagne - most unexpected.

The buffet breakfast and dinner was very good.

We did the walk from the hotel to the hidden lake which was very good and well worth doing.

All in all a fabulous stay.

reading some previous reviews and since this is my 3rd family visit to Torres del Paine NP i must say that Hotel Serrano is BY FAR the best option in the park! first... you need to stay in the park for at least 3nights so that you can do some hikes and have some high chances of better weather! if you stayed only 1 night like the couple in one of the previous reviews & you get the usual rain or fog you will miss the highest point of the hotel.. the VIEWS! it is the only hotel from where you have a full view of the Paine Massif! second, it is the best location since it is just across the Serrano river so technically it is outside the NP but logistically speaking it is in the middle of park since you are half way to Lago Grey area or the Laguna Amarga area!!!
third... the fact is that SERVICE in Chile is always slow (check in, waiters etc) but people tend to be extremely friendly & this is Patagonia so you need to change your chip & give time... time!!! Breakfast is unbelievable taking into account that everything has to travel 4-5hrs from Punta Arenas! & the dinners are a MUST! the chefs are amazing... some nights you have a la carte (go for the salmon!) & some nights when they are full they offer the best buffet you will see in patagonia!
forth & last... it is paradise for KIDS! the whole ground floor is full of huge sitting area & open spaces but also an enormous grass area in front of the hotel where kids can play for hours & hours while parents we can enjoy a drink looking at the mountains!
TIP: if you stay at hotel serrano treat yourself with a room with a view! all the even numbers! it is more expensive but if you are lucky with the weather you will have the best views of one of the top 5 national parks in the planet! you will get to see the changing of the colors in the mountain & we even stayed up all night to see the full moon dancing around the massif while the horses were running in front of the hotel enjoying their freedom! Simply THE FAMILY TRIP of our lives!
HIKES... with kids you can do LAGO GREY & SALTO GRANDE (easy if no winds...very hard if windy! only 2hrs but more fun if in 3!). you should not miss GUANACO VALLEY where you walked among over 1000guanacos with a view of the towers in the back! WOW! i get chills while writing this review!

The room had a view of the horns mountains that would take your breath away. It was clean and very comfortable. The location provide you with walks by a river with horses and much wild life to look at. The only concerns were that the room had no air conditioning and it was warm the days we were there so it was a little warm in the room. They also have very poor internet reception in the rooms or it was nonexistent.

Room Tip: Get a room with a view of the mountains the sunrise is outstanding!

Wonderful Park, amazing experience, but very expensive!!! If you chose an all inclusive program, it costs about US$500,00/person/ day. And it does not include any boat activities, very inportant for the Park. Like, the visit to Glaciar Gray, only done by boat and a plus of US$180,00/person.
The tracking to Base Torres del Paine is incredible, don't miss it! It is a long walk. around 8 hours and 900mts up, very demaning... but worth it!!
All the guides were very nice, helpfull and very entusiastic!
The hotel is beautiful, great food, confortable rooms, but still too expencive.

Room Tip: The rooms with a view to Torres del Paine are incredible

You've just done the Torres del Paine trip and can't really believe it's already time to leave? Well, poor you you weren't able to stay at this place.
It really is glorious. The approach to the hotel is from the Torres viewing points and then with a series of ox-bow lakes and bridges in the Serrano river over a hillock to the hotel. People camp near by but the hotel is spotless, new and so open and welcoming why stay anywhere else.
The staff are on the casual side but friendly and accommodating, laid-back I'd say but do their jobs just fine. English is a bit limited but works quite sufficiently (bully for them, my Spanish is hopeless). Check-in/out went very smoothly just like it should.
There is nowhere else to eat, so it's just as well the restaurant has tasty fare and the red wine is good Chilean. Service is good and all makes an enjoyable evening.
The biggest thing about this hotel however, is the view of the Torres, smack outside your window. You can go for a short (or a long) walk and admire the stupendous view or just sit on your balcony or in the lounges and do the same.
The wind was blowing a storm whilst we were there, the hotel is timber framed and although not very tall creaked and groaned a bit with the buffeting. It all conspired to make it a great evening and a great adventure.

Room Tip: If there are rooms without a view, make sure you get one with.

The hotel is in a lovely setting and offers walks, boat and bus trips. The rooms are very comfortable and the lounge areas spacious and nicely furnished. The food was very good so what is there to complain about? It is the staff. Not all, I hasten to add but the receptionist when booking in was most rude to the point where you wonder whether you heard her correctly. We were not the only ones to complain about her attitude. When receiving an unwanted wake up call in the middle of the night, she said it was "impossible". The staff in the restaurant by and large were not that bothered about serving us and we had to go up to them to request rolls, bill, drinks etc. In the bar it took five requests for milk for our tea before the waiter come with it as we were obviously disturbing his watching a football match. Such a pity.
