“Excellent Alternative as base to see Torres del Paine”
Reviewed April 8, 2014

Staff were friendly and helpful, the yurts were well appointed - although bedside lighting could be brighter - take off the lampshade or bring your Ipad if you intend reading in bed! The calafate cocktails were dangerously tasty. Meals were well prepared and good value when wine and other drink costs were included. We took the bed and breakfast option to have freedom to tour the area at leisure but most of the guests were fully inclusive.

Only have wifi in the common areas and no cell phone signal so a real get away from it location.

Only downside was that the camp is located outside of the park and on the road to the Serrano gate. MOP - the Chilean Ministry of Public works was meant to have completed road improvements by January but are still working on the road with no end date advised. This means the road is currently closed from 10 am to 9 pm. Going to the park is not a problem but the return is a diversion of 150 km back to the camp.
We found that if you are at he Serrano gate that they will actually allow traffic through after about 6.30 but still it is a pain.

Room Tip: It seems that the higher numbered Yurts, although further from the restaurant and the common area ar...

The service was fantastic here, and it made a great jumping-off point for exploring Patagonia through the treks offered by the guides. Each evening I got to pick what I was going to do the next day. All food and drink were taken care of (try the calafate sour) and the yerts that you get to sleep in are so cool. Note: the wind gets loud, but you can get earplugs from the front desk. Also, if you want to do treks other than hiking (i.e. horseback riding, kayaking) you'll have to pay extra and go with another company, but they can help you arrange that.

I was the only solo traveler there at the time -- mostly it was large groups -- but I had the chance to get to know people at dinner and during treks, so it worked out great!

We had a truly wonderful experience wishing we could have stayed for longer. The yurts are truly 6 star camping where you can watch the Milky Way through the dome while in the emperor sized bed. The guides were just as eager as we were to experience the Torres, like they were there for the first time too. Everything was easy, with the all inclusive price. We really felt valued and will go back if we ever get the chance.

Staff very friendly. It is worth buying the all inclusive package so you have activities every day.
The tents are small but comfortable. Me and my wife met other 2 very friendly couples.
We had our private guide and shuttle everyday. Waking up at 7am every day for breakfast to start the hikes early and getting back at 7pm. So, we had very busy and fun days.
You can choose among many diferente hikes (all perfect) with diferente landscapes: lakes, animals, mountains, desert, forests, etc. Some easy, some difficult.
The park is big, so you spend at least 1 hour inside the shuttle to reach your destination and another hour to get back to the hotel. Our driver was very friendly and good driver.
We had very nice three course dinners. Lunch was usually taken in the middle of the hikes with "portable" chairs and tables: beer, wine, and a good sandwich.
Unforgetable experience.

We spent three nights at Patagonia Camp. The yurts are amazing - comfortable, luxurious and surprisingly toasty. We enjoyed everything about our stay - the guides/staff were friendly and accommodating, the food delicious and the national park is spectacular. We found the tipping arrangements slightly strange, but they did not detract from our experience.

Ten years after my first trip to Torres del Paine, little has changed. Of the few noteworthy changes however, Patagonia Camp is among my favorite. I wasn’t sure what to make of the ‘yurt’ concept until I saw them first hand. The units themselves and not only ideally situated, but beautifully appointed inside. From the linens to the complimentary toiletries, everything is top-shelf.

The dining room, food, wine and local beer were all exceptional. The staff especially, worked overtime to make sure we were well cared for (Even to the point of make special arrangements to compensate for a local tour-operator’s (not at all related to Patagonia Camp) error – arranging transport, packing meals etc…).

An absolute must when experiencing luxury’s “yin” to Patagonia’s brutal “yang”.

Room Tip: Yurts 17 & 18 sit right on the point of Lago Toro, although you can't go wrong no matter whi...

This is an absolutely marvelous place! My wife and I have stayed at a few fancy “camps” on safaris in Africa, but this place stands out for it’s uniqueness, overall comfort and outstanding service. The location on the back end of Lake Toro is divine, the yurts are spacious, super clean and the beds large, comfy and first class. Along with the balcony, good bathroom facilities, great views of the three horns from the bedroom and incredible eco-friendly environment. This ranks among one of the best resorts we’ve experienced of it’s kind. The staff was brilliant, the hiking guides and transportation drivers great people, the food superb(considering where you’re located), good wines from the vineyard of the owner of the property and the atmosphere creates really positive energy. The “camp” features excellent dinners with fine wines and lavish deserts. We wish we could have stayed much longer, but did manage a hike to the “three towers” which was the thrill of a lifetime. The only drawback to the property, is the distance from the park, that requires a 90 minute drive to most of the sightseeing and hiking locations. Otherwise, a dynamite operation! Make sure you ask for a yurt with a view and get the all inclusive, totally worth the price and then you’ll enjoy a heavenly time if the weather is as kind to you as it was to us. Super wonderful place!

Room Tip: Get a yurt closer to the water. You may have to climb a ot of stairs to get to the lodge, but worth...
