Our first visit to Laos and we were appreciative of the warm welcome from the staff of Hotel Pakse. We stayed two nights however we checked out after the first as we were unsure of our plans. In the end we decided to return to the Hotel Pakse and the staff were more than delighted to see us again. Very nice for us.
Breakfast buffet has enough to get you started for the day.
Didn't getup to the roof top restaurant but would give that a try next time. Others spoke highly of it.
Beds were firm but comfy, the shower ... Not the best. But really, I didn't really care that much in the end. I was glad for a clean room, and friendly people. Maybe showers aren't that important when you realise that there's a lot of people doing it tough in this country.
One of the interesting parts of the Hotel Pakse is the neighbourhood. The street scape is a mix of French colonial and some shabby souvenir shops. These side by side with massage places and some little family run eateries. The restaurant directly over the road was a one-time only affair (dirty and grimy); round the corner we found a nicer noodle soup/pho style place and can recommend that.
Overall, worth staying on lots of levels, just remember where you are, and be realistic and thankful.

In a good location for Pakse. We had a room at the back of the hotel so no views but it was quiet. The bed was hard & the bathroom was not as clean as others we have come across in Laos. There was a TV. The breakfast on the ground floor was buffet style & adequate. On the top floor there is a lovely open air restaurant that was most pleasant for sunset drinks and went there both nights we were in Pakse to enjoy the end of the day. We totally recommend eating local & walking down to the Mekong & buying a whole fish for dinner & sitting in one of the bamboo huts.

We stayed two nights in Pakse and chose this hotel as it was the only one that was still open when we arrived in the middle of the night with no reservation. We didn't regret it!

A bit expensive BUT you get a good service: decent and clean standard rooms with international channels, great buffet breakfast with many home made cakes and dishes, superb rooftop restaurant with warm staff and great food and useful tips from management on tours in the region.

Highly recommended!

I often go to Pakse and have tried many hotels there. If you can pay more, there are some better hotels. If you want save money, you can find cheaper hotesl or guest houses.
Pakse hotel, however, is one of the best places that can offer you quality service, quiet rooms (except air conditionner), variety of breakfast buffer, etc. between 25-50 dollar range.

Room Tip: Rooms on the backside are quieter. "Eco" rooms don't have windows facing outside.

The Pakse hotel and roof terrace offered a fabulous experience before and after our Treetops Explorer holiday!! The owner is very kind and helpful as were his employees. The prices are reasonable for the location; the rooms are quiet and comfortable; the rooftop is a relaxing oasis with delicious food & drinks!
