“Enjoyable stay with the family”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 17, 2012

We stayed in the superior room. The room was spacious. Some items were antique but overall the condition of the room is in working order. There was even a checklist for guest to feedback to the management if anything was not in working order .. something more hotels in Malaysia need to do!

The hot water was good and so was the water pressure. You get two complimentary mineral water bottles. Bed was comfortable. TV a bit smallish but at least it was working fine. No free Wifi in the room.

Parking space was ample and uncovered. Security felt fine. The pools was well kept and so was the sauna. Overall the kids gave the thumbs up!

Before I check out from Swiss Inn hotel, I would like to drop a few line to share my experience during my stay in Swiss Inn Sungai Petani.
At the first place thank for the safe and convenient car park of the hotel.
Convenient located hotel in Sungai Petani, Kedah, easy to access to city, take about 50 minutes from Penang International Airport. Hotel is very close to a new well plan town. Plenty of food stalls, cafe and restaurant to visit.
This is the best 3 stars hotel, reasonable price compare to the complete facilities given. Big & spacious rooms equipped with air conditioning and Wi-Fi with clean and nice environment. I together my family and friends are enjoy the big beautiful, clean and sparkling water of swimming pool
The variety choices breakfast is in the hotel restaurant at Garden Terrace. I really satisfy my stay in Swiss Inn Sungai Petani. When you are looking for comfortable and convenient accommodation in Sungai Petani when you away from home, make Swiss Inn Sungai Petani your home.

Swiss inn is a bit remote hotel where you can expect serenity though there are two large malls you can find just a couple of miles away.
Car park is located around the hotel-meant none of the parking is covered.
Walk into the reception theres nothing much to awe. except when you peek into a large pool behind the glass door,it felt like u cant wait to jump in and get soaked up, at least i felt that.
Since it was fasting month, we opted for additional rm45 for buka puasa for 2. yeah we got complimentary breakfast in wee hours as we were fasting.
The reception area isnt that great. i saw stage which was emptied. maybe due to ramadhan no live band activity is allowed. good move.
Next is the restaurant. so-so, no cozy feeling. but i can tell you the variety of food presented is value for money. and its damn good food we had for our bukapuasa.
Going up to our room at level 2, we were greeted by hospital like smell. well i guess due to detergent used for the laundry.
We opt for a superior room. Its a two single bed room with set of two chairs and a coffee table plus...... a still big area meant for nothing. no other furniture.
Off course apart from bed theres side table wardrobe dressing table n such. but the room was too big it felt empty. looking thru the window you can see the large pool surrounded by 4 storey 100 rooms hotel. lovely.
The toiletries are disappointing, we were supplied with a bottle of showr foam, a shampoo and two nos of round soap. Yeah its disappointing they dont even have a box of match.if u opt for suite youll be supplied by additional shaver, shower cap, tooth brush sewing kit and yes, still no matches been supplied. Ok.ive been to a not so wellknown hotel, of even lower rating but i can get those without even opting for suite!!
overall swiss inn is an average hotel you can count on if you happen to drop by sg petani. the staff from reception to restaurant and even the housekeeping is friendly enough to cheer up your day. one thing for sure- swiss inn need a revamp as its decoration n arrangement had aged.

I was recently put up in this hotel for two nights in this hotel for a conference and discovered a gem in the midst of "Sungai Petani." We always ask what good is there in sungai petani especially if you come from the north of Malaysia? It is known as a rubber estate town.
To my surprise, the hotel boast of one of the best kept pool, spacious and clean rooms. I am very particular about the cleanliness of the rooms and it was a wonderful surprise that not only was it was clean, it even have a tub.
The conference food that they serve is great despite of the fear of mass cooking. They were generous in topping up but the chef behind the kitchen is a great chef... I enjoyed the " thai and malay" influence in the cooking.
The conference room was okay and despite of last minutes request of physical arrangement of the room, the management did it after the conference at 11pm. That was impressive despite of a full occupancy due to the school holidays. I see the children fully been occupied in the pool whole day long. The hotel is great for families who does not want to burn their pockets.
The only thing is that the hotel is in a non descript part of the town which if you don't have a GPS, you may have to stop a number of time to ask the locals for direction. Like all gems, you need to dig hard to discover it. The only negative perception i have in this hotel is some of the things needs to be upgraded like ironing board, sofa sets etc.

Room Tip: Take the room that faces the pool. it is entertaining...

Sungai Petani is a small town near Penang. The choice of hotels is limited, and I booked this hotel based on favourable Tripadvisor reviews. The room I booked is billed as a junior suite. It is certainly quite large, but has far too few lights and lamps, leading to a very dim room at night, with significant difficulty in reading. Even the bedside lamps have extremely short stands, meaning that no matter how close to you they are, they will only illuminate your elbow when you are lying down. The only way to read in bed is to turn onto your side and prop the book under the lamp - not a comfortable situation. Trying to read on the sofa was not easy, either, as there are only two peripherally placed ceiling lights. I finally had to drag the stand lamp across to the sofa before I could read.
The bathroom is large and has a Jacuzzi, which i did not try. The addition of a shower curtain would be useful, as the water otherwise does sometimes run onto the ledge adjacent to the bath and thence onto the towels stacked there.
The kettle provided for coffee making is too large to fill at the sink. If you want it really full you will have to lean over and fill it at the bath tap.
Breakfast is rather poor as far as quality and variety go. "Western" fare consists of chicken sausages and chicken "ham", toast and cereal. Local dishes are usually fried noodles and nasi lemak (rice cooked in coconut milk). Be warned that in the northern states of Malaysia it is not unusual to add substantial amounts of sugar even to savoury dishes - my fried noodles were very sweet!
The staff were friendly enough, and checkin and checkout were efficiently handled. As another reviewer has pointed out, without your own car, you will have to resort to taxis to get around. This hotel is on a side road, quite a long walk from restaurants and shops. There is a nice looking pool which I did not get to try.

Stayed there in May 2012 while attending a meeting.
Location is not too bad if you have your own transport, otherwise public transportation is poor, like most places in Malaysia. Not a touristy or interesting town anyway, so travelers might as well give it a miss.
Found out after checking in that my room was dirty, carpets were dirty and dusty, the bed linen was dirty and badly stained, so were the pillow cases.
Gave front desk a call and they assured me that action will be taken, waited for more than half an hour and there was no sign of any body coming to change the linen, so gave front desk another tinker and after 10minutes, somebody in uniform showed up at the door.
I enquired if he was from the housekeeping department, and he said he was the security guard on duty, which really gave me a shocked, he told me the staff at housekeeping had gone home, and it was barely 5.30pm!
I had to help the security guard to change the bed sheet, which was really unbecoming in a hotel.
A couple of unprofessional looking men and a lady turned up later and claimed they were from the housekeeping dept, they then took another hour to sort out my dirty linens, pillow cases and towels - ugghh , what a terrible experience.
There was no room slippers and I had to tiptoe on the dirty floor after bathing,
the tv channel selection was poor, BBC AND other international channels were supposed to be available but not viewable in the room tv. the remote control could only scroll up the channel and not down. ugghh! horrible,.

Room Tip: no good rooms here, dirty! You only come here if you can get a really cheap rate, otherwise dont st...
