I googled for many choices of hotels at Lake Toya and finally decided to go for Kohan tei after reading reviews from trip advisor. I booked from Japanican and the rate was very reasonable for a family of 4 (2 A 2 C) in a Japanese style room with breakfast (restaurant) and japanese style Dinner in the room. They prepared western style dinner ( really big portion) for my 2 children age 3 & 7 . My children were soooo happy especially my elder girl who was able to apppreciate much better. The hotel had even provided Yukata (japanese robe) for my 2 children for their respective age that fit them perfectly well. The chambermaid who was assigned to service our level was very good, she explained to us about the room and also explained the dinner course by course in Japanese when serve. Unfortunately we don't understand much about Japanese. However we roughly know what she was saying thru body languages. The front office personnel was not good with English as I was asking for a bicycle shop and I had a hard time explaining to the reception. Nevertheless I got a map from him and was able to rent the bicycle and we cycled around the lake and really had a good time.
