“Very good service, family-friendly”
Reviewed August 9, 2014 via mobile

Stayed 4 nights. Very accommodating staff. They sent a shuttle to meet us at JR station, even though we had to change our arrival time with only a few hours notice. All rooms face the lake and have good views. Lakeside promenade goes right past the hotel. We watched nightly fireworks from inside a couple of nights because it was raining. Lots of families with kids, enjoying the boat rides and the hot baths. Our Japanese family member told us not all the families were Japanese; he was guessing some were Korean.

All you can eat buffet breakfast included. We never did figure out the restaurant schedule. One night staff said it was by reservation only. Next day we tried to make a reservation but they said it was overbooked. Actually, it seemed they only used the restaurant to serve tour groups. One large tour bus full of Chinese tourists left one morning.

Housekeeping service was prompt and friendly. Futons were put out each evening while the table and chairs were set off on the side. Each morning, futons were put away for us. We slept 3 in a very large room that might sometimes accommodate even more (there were six futons in the closet).

Ambience is a bit worn at the edges. It would help to put some new carpets in the hallways and some better lighting. Other nearby hotels looked a bit snazzier, but they were also significantly more costly, even though they shared the same lakefront.

Hot baths came with the room price. They are segregated by sex. A range of pools from cold to very hot, and a couple of them were outside in a screened garden. Some were in an atmospheric "cave".

Staff sent us off at the end of our stay with US flags waving. We only hope for better weather in the future.

This hotel is typical old style and a little run-down, catering mainly to busloads of package tourists who arrive in the evening, have a quick dinner and onsen, then scoots to the next destination after breakfast. However we enjoyed our stay as the service was polite and efficient and our room was spacious with fantastic views of the lake. We enjoyed the evening fireworks from our room as well as the decent onsen (best to go after 10pm when the crowds have gone to bed). The hotel is located along the main street and only a short walk to restaurants and convenience stores. However the town isn't exactly "happening" on a summery Monday night. Many restaurants were closed or closing early so our dinner options were very limited. We were not part of a packaged tour and it was rather disappointing to be told by the hotel that they could not offer us dinner as we did not pre-arrange. However compared to prices charged by other hotels along the lake, we felt that we had a good deal and there's little to fault the hotel.

Room Tip: Book a lake view room

We couldn't have asked for more.
This hotel is located on the shore of Lake Toya and our Japanese/Western room overlooked the lake. The room had 3 large windows and we had a wonderful view.
The room was large with traditional low table and high coffee type table and own bathroom.
As part of our package we had dinner served in our room. What an exquisite dinner it was, with eleven different dishes ( some quite small) and all most enjoyable. We were lucky to have a lovely room attendant on the first night 29/5, who told us what each was and made us feel very welcome and explained a number of other things to us. Following dinner she came back and made up our futons. Think we had the best nights sleep whilst we were there for our whole trip!!
What a treat come 9.00 p.m. when a fireworks show occurred out on the lake. We stayed for two nights and on each day had a Hinoki bath which we enjoyed. These are private hot spring baths - they do need to be booked. The hotel also had public baths.
On our last day we were waved off by the staff and taken by mini- bus to the Toya station.

This stay was most enjoyable.

We booked our room via booking.com . The hotel is actually pretty old but the room is fine. We booked 1 night room only. We manage to arrange the hotel to pick us and send us to Toya JR station.

In terms of services, the staffs are fine and friendly. But lack of English speaking staff. Luckily for us, there is a young chap who is able to communicate with us in Mandarin, He put in a lot of efforts to introduce the hotel's facilities and surrounding. He was also the staff who pick us up from the station.

The spa in cave isn't as high expectation that per pictures. But still a work as hot spring. There is 2 hot springs in the hotel.

We happened to be in time to see fireworks on the lake at 8.45pm. Check the dates before you book your hotel. The view is great in our room, but if you willing to leave your comfort zone, please walk to the lake as you are see the whole show around 20 minutes. From the room, you only see 50% since the boats will move.

If you can afford to buy the floating ship/boat ticket, it will bring you close up to the fireworks show on the lake.

When we check out, he even took out a small Singapore flag and wave to send us off in the hotel's van. We had a good laugh and appreciate the hotel's gesture to tourists.

Room Tip: Ensure you get a room high floor and face the lake.

This is an average, and a bit old, hotel but is located very centrally in the Lake Toya district. What it lacks in terms of freshness and modernity, it makes up for in terms of the views! Make sure you try to get a room facing the lake. The other aspects of the hotel have been well covered by other reviewers: varied but so-so breakfast, large public bath, and near many restaurants. The mini-mart opposite the hotel is well stocked for most of your needs. If you are driving, make sure to spend some time driving eastwards and stopping at the few parking areas on the shoreline. There are numerous interesting works of art that are photo-worthy. Also, view the nightly fireworks along the boardwalk, not from the rooms.

Room Tip: Ask for lakeside view.

We are very happy staying here. Though the staff are not fluent in English but it's not a big problem as they try very hard to communicate with us. So impressed. We got the lake side view with traditional Japanese style bedroom. It is such a great experience.
You can book for a private onsen, in case you don't want to join anyone. There's 50 mins for you to spend the private time there. There're both outside and inside. I do recommend the outside one.

Wait till 9.30, there's a big show of firework from the Toyako City. Splendid moment ever. !!
in front of the hotel, facing the lake, there's a public foot spa for everyone. Try it when you're back from walking around the city.

Stayed at this hotel for one night. Position is good, close to bus station. However, facilities are really poor: rooms are very old. I booked a non-smoking room, but smoking smell is all around this hotel. Tried to enjoy hot spring, but not as good as the photos shown on booking and other website. I would say it's just basic hot spring, can't be compared to those ones in Noborobetsu.

Don't stay at this hotel to rain your holiday.
