Just finished a two week stay at the Royalton. The food was excellent - the ambience was excellent - but it was the staff that made my stay! Truly genuine people. Thank you to all our new friends!
I would recommend this adult only facility to anyone who wants a relaxing vacation. From the bell boy to the butler, the chambermaids, the manager, the chef and everyone in between we were treated wonderfully. I hope to see everyone again as soon as possible.

The Royalton is a great place to go if you want to kick back and relax. The food was very good, especially at restaurant (Senses). The drinks were good depending on which bar you went to. All the staff were very nice, all could speak english pretty good, so if you have a problem with spanish its no problem here. If you want a little excitement-go next door to memories and access is free to all it offers. Special thanks to our 2 butlers (Mario and Noelvis) you guys did a great job of doing or getting anything we wanted. The beach is beautiful and so is the water. The resort is in terrific shape as it's only a year old. The grounds, all the gardens are beautiful and well kept. Would recommend this place. The only drawback is the 13/4 to 2 hour trip from the airport, but if it's your first time to Cuba then it's a nice trip to see some of the countryside.

Room Tip: Choose buildings. 6,7 or 8 with balcony if you want a bit of an ocean view

We booked late (for us) due to unknown time off so we were "stuck with" a garden view terrace room. Honestly we were out of our room at Eggsellence for breakfast and other than the occasional run to the room for various reasons never really used the room except to sleep. Our "ocean view" was just that...the ocean all morning till we switched to the pool for the afternoon!

Flight (sunwing nothing to do with the resort).. late departing from Windsor due to "fluid leaking from the engine"... but otherwise ok. We paid for elite plus..gave us first row seats.. luggage first off in Cuba and home...airport was insanely relaxed.. we were out the door..at the currency exchange within 15 minutes!

Bus- Bus provided to and from The Royalton was brand new, air conditionined with a bathroom on board both ways. Due to the time of arrival our entire bus ride to the resort was in darkness however the guide still provided local history and info that made the time fly..plus beer for those who drink it!

After dropping off the majority of our passengers at Memories and viewing the chaos while waiting lol ...the 4 remaining couples were brought to RCsM.. we were handed a cool towel and a glass of champagne and our check in was flawless...we literally gave our passports and within moments we were introduced to our lovely and gracious butler Ana. She escorted us to our room and gave us an overview of the grounds on our way. We opened our room to a beautiful spacious room that had a bottle of champagne, numerous flowers and a beautiful Cuban poem that was special to Ana printed off for us. This was our first trip to Cuba and we were in love! Due to the late hour and travel we had our first meal at Sunset which was out of this world for a snack!

Our entire week consisted of doing nothing! We got up..spent all morning on the beach (which btw tip the guys who find you a spot.. brush off the sand set up your towels and will be your best friend)... then hit the pool till sunset. Yes there are still rude selfish people who lay claim to their spot by the pool/pool bed but it really is not necessary. Regardless of the time of day you will always find a prime spot on the beach or by the pool. Playing the towel game is about 5% of the population here and we all knew who they were lol.

Food- having not visited Cuba before but only hearing terrible reviews in general was the main reason we had not visited Cuba. Having read the reviews we were hopeful we would be happy. This place blew any other place (Jamaica, cancun, Mayan Riviera, cozumel, Dominican Republic) out of the water. I am not a breakfast person but here you had a full menu of eggs, omelets, skillets, pancakes, crepes or french toast plus a buffet of lovely fresh fruits and cheeses plus meats, smoked salmon, pastries and various juices. We have paid $1800+ and had hamburgs nachos and hot dogs by the pool or beach... here we had Mahi mahi, pork, chicken, calamari, quesidellias made with chicken, beef, or seafood which consisted of lobster squid snapper shrimp and scallops. They also had lobster pizzas and entire lobsters sliced in half and grilled with a butter salsa dressing that they brought you on the beach or at the pool! If you want snacks such as pretzels chips or nuts bring your own... no munchies outside of fruit or meat/cheese kabobs. Not a complaint...some people like the salty snacks...we met people who visited Cuba 15+ times who said they would only come back here now....

Rooms- clean well appointed..shower in the stall was serene as it was a waterfall type head but useless for washing your hair lol use the tub and handheld for that! Full size shampoo and bubble bath provided along with soap. No face cloths however we brought our own. The blow dryer is the standard white wall mount but the cord is short and in an awkward location so not much flexibility. The bed is hard. We have a pillow top at home and found it hard to sleep on. This did not affect our comfort just an observation that many have noted. Maybe offering a foam topper on request would solve this... also in the basic room which we had there was very little storage space such as drawers. .. so much so my hubby left his stuff in his suitcase...

Entertainment- we are in the under 50 (barely) age range. As stated our day consisted of breakfast, beach, lunch, pool, siesta, shower, dinner, show..bed do over. Every meal you had either a classical guitarist, flutist, mariachi band etc.. at night after dinner you can attend the main lobby for wonderful bands, salsa dancing or aqua ballets. Take advantage of the salsa dancing or Spanish lessons poolside. Mario is the most patient teacher of their beautiful language!

The grounds are spotless. I defy you to find a piece of garbage anywhere! The gardeners and grounds crew keep this place spotless...please tip them..They so deserve it!

Overall impression...we cannot wait to go back! We formed genuine friendships with not only fellow guests but the staff. I honestly wept saying goodbye. We fell in love with Cuba thanks to the Royalton. We cannot say enough about how much we loved our time here and have referred so many friends! Miguel you are doing a fine job at maintaining a high class resort.. we cannot wait to return! Hasta la vista! _

All staff is amazing, friendly and always willing to help. The beach is amazing and you can walk for hours. The pool areas are lovely. I can go on and on. We certainly will return.

If you want a vacation where you are pampered and completely taken care of then this is the place. Fantastic beach, great food and never a line up at the bar or wherever you are in the resort! We stayed in building 7 with Alex and Anna as our butlers and they did a wonderful job of making us feel welcome. Rooms are top notch, housekeeping and the gardeners were great. We brought a lot of gifts of hygiene products for the ladies to gloves for the workers. They all work very hard long hours, so be generous to them all.
We didn't get any bug bites the first few days but did when the wind died down, wear some kind of bug spray. Only complaint is the amount of bites fire ants around the lower pool, hope they look after this.
Sunwing flight was a disaster, unfortunately from Canada there is not another choice.

Room Tip: We stayed in building 7, which is close to the grill and the beach.

My husband and I stayed at this resort for the Christmas and New Years holiday. We couldn't have asked for better weather anywhere. We had booked an ocean view room and were very happy that we did as the bottom floors of the bungalows all face very dense greenery and shrubs. Our view from the second floor balcony was very scenic and made sipping our drinks there after a long day at the beach and pool that much more enjoyable. We had two butlers assigned to our room, Yanet and Orestes. Both were attentive and met us each day with a smile as wide as the beach. Yanet deserves a big THANK YOU for her sensational attention to details, for arranging the spa afternoon in our suite and for always ensuring our mini bar was stocked with our favourite beverages. The restaurants for dinner were most enjoyable and the wait staff were always friendly and wanting to please you however they could. It was also nice to see the management participating and having an active role on the property working side by side with their gardening, maintenance and activities staff to ensure everything was running smoothly. Each time you passed by them to say hello, they responded and placed their hands over their hearts as a warm gesture. The beach was spectacular, clean and free of typical beach vendors. One stroll down the beach in either direction to see how the other vacationers were living only proved that we had, by far, the best resort in Cuba. We do hope that we will be returning sometime soon. Full marks to everyone at the Royalton.
