This place is amazing. From the staff to the rooms, beaches, restaurants, grounds. Everything was perfection. If you are looking for a couples chilled out luxury experience, then look no further. Its the little details that make this destination so special. Nothing is too much trouble. My partner is Vegetarian and a very strict one at that. The staff catered for her every need, trying to outdo themselves every day. Absolutely fantastic. Manager on site most of the day chatting to guests, ensuring everything was perfect for them. Brilliant!!

This hotel is a true 5 star experience. I was initially afraid to go to a Cuban resort during a low season because of previous experience elsewhere, but at Buenavista you can go anytime without a fear. The location is breathtaking and very romantic - you have a choice of 3 beaches very different from each other- 1) for beautiful snorkling experience 2) for swimming and endless long white sand beach and 3) very wild but very special for birds watching and unbelivable sunset. The roons are the best i have seen in Cuba, modern and spacious. The food, although the choice is smaller compared to a buffet, the quality is at the top ! And the service is so great, that everything is done to please each and everyone. If one day guava icecream is not available and you have asked, its there tomorrow and the waiter will remember u that its there for u now.. The manager and his wife are amazing and arr very present to make sure that you are having the vacation of your time.
Cant wait to go back

We have just returned from a 7 day holiday at this hotel and we had a wonderful experience. Having been to Cuba for the 18th time, at many excellent hotels in various tourist regions, we can say that we truly loved the Melia Buenavista. This is one of our favorites.

If you are looking for a small, intimate, adults only hotel with a gorgeous beach, beautiful pool, luxurious rooms, personalized service, and 24 hour bar and a la carte room service, (there is no buffet!), this is it. We felt spoiled here although in terms of service, we haven't really been disappointed anywhere. This hotel is special because it focuses on spoiling its clients and almost succeeds. People that travel to Cuba should understand that there are limitations in this country. Nothing is consistent in terms of food and beverage availability. Deliveries are unreliable and anything not made or grown locally is imported and thus not guaranteed. What is there one week might not be there the next week or for months thereafter. Having said this, they try extremely hard to please their guests. In the same token, Cuba cannot be compared to other sun destinations in terms of star quality.

There are two a la carte restaurants for dinner. One is the International that rotates its menu on a nightly basis and the other is the Navigantes which has a set menu. We found the menu limited in its choices to two main dishes at the International restaurant. The quality of food was palatable but the menu should be expanded. The soups were very good, but salad was absent as a choice. We liked that fact that the bread was served warm. Wine. The house wine offered is unacceptable. When we complained about the wine, a better quality was offered to us. This should be standard because it IS available. What we enjoyed very much was the charcoal barbeque at the pool during the lunch period. The lobby bar was adequately stocked with some choices of premium brand liquors and imported beers. However, we weren't offered the premium beer until we discovered it was available. This is unacceptable. We've been to lower rated hotels in Cuba that had better quality of choices. This hotel lobby bar made the best Cappuccinos in the morning that we have ever had.

The property was very well kept. The beach is beautiful, but it needs to be cleaned more often due to the seaweed washing up on the shore. The "bartender" at the beach bar tried, when he had a free moment, to serve the clients on the beach. Beach service should be provided.

There are many wonderful things about this hotel that we have not mentioned. We are recommending this hotel and we would mention that the manager, Jaume Vilardell i Margarit, has only been there one month and we must give him the time and the opportunity to make the necessary changes to make it a true five star.

We would like to thank Jaume and each and every staff member of the Melia Buenavista for making this vacation a memorable one. We will be back.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great, whatever you choose.

The suit is really fantastic. The room is clean and new.
We had a small view over the sea, but felt quite sauvage.
Fantastic beach and very nice warm water.
The food was very good, you should book in advance the restaurant to be able to have a dinner. You can as well travel to the nearest hotels, from the chain Melia and see that this one is the best)
The prices for spa are really high. And there are a lot of mosquitos

Service is fantastic, all inclusive. Room service, we ordered couple times proseco and snacs in our room and received them in 30 min. As well you can order breakfast in the room.

Dear friends from Switzerland:
It has been a great pleasure to receive this review where you explain, in short, all things that made your stay at Melia Buenavista a very enjoyable vacation. Likewise, we have confirmed that some aspects, such as mosquitos, are still things to work at in order to achieve full satisfaction of our guests expectations. Being this a protected area there are rigourous limits for insect control products and procedures.
We hope you honor us with another visit in the near future. Thank you so much for your contribution.

It was difficult to mark very good if looking from a food standpoint. I would give it 6 stars for the resort itself and the service, room and pool. What a beautiful place! We took the Royal Service and was not disappointed in any way. We were assigned a butler (Geraldo) who was absolutely fantastic. He couldn't do enough for us and if we asked for something he made sure we got it. The room was spectacular. In the front we were just feet away from a gorgeous swimming pool and out the back we had a private outdoor shower, very private. Every morning we went to the beach (the one on the right which we found to be the best one) and each afternoon we spent around the luxurious pool. Lunch was always at the main pool's grill. You have to get there early (12:00) as they ran out a few times of good things on the menu. We went in May so it was the quiet season and we knew not all restaurants would be open. Breakfast was always delicious. Perhaps a little slow for service. I ended up ordering 2 cappuccinos at a time so I didn't have to wait so long for my second cup. Lunch was okay but not great. Dinners were the worst. We are pretty easy about the food when we travel. We are in a foreign country and it's not Montreal but holy moly just couldn't understand why the "recipes" were so bad as they have all the right ingredients to do it right. I felt like writing to Chef Ramsey as the resort has everything going for it. It's so beautiful and the service is top notch. Example.... Italian Night. They have pasta as the appetizer (by the way all the soups were great) so the pasta arrives as a precursor to supper. Excellent. It's Italian night. So far so good. Then they bring the main course and it's shoe leather beef, over cooked vegetables and I can't even remember what came with that it was inedible. Why didn't they serve the pasta as the main meal? Great ingredients, poor preparation and presentation. The mango ice cream is to die for. Anyways, breakfast was fantastic. Eggs any way you want it, lots of fresh fruit, bakery goods, smoked salmon and cheeses. Very nice. I would have eaten it again at supper time! I'm thinking now that maybe we should have ordered more dinner time room service. lol Each afternoon we ordered a bottle of champagne and cheese plate and had that on our patio beside the pool. That was very nice. All the musicians are home grown and the music was always great. Perhaps way too loud in the restaurant at dinner time. We especially enjoyed the saxophone player on the beach at sundown (they call it their Sunset Ritual). They serve champagne and you experience a beautiful sunset on the beach. Very nice. Good time for Watkins bug cream. There is also a double decker bus that passes every hour and will take you to Pueblo d'Estrella. It's the best place to go for cigars. The cigar store was amazing! They had hundreds and hundreds of different types of cigars. Just going into their huge humidor room is a treat. It is worth going in just to see the decor. Tons of pictures of famous people smoking cigars all nicely framed. Big old leather chairs and even many old empty cigar boxes nailed to the ceiling with all the lids hanging down! Quite an impression. They accept credit cards. Coming back from there we took a taxi in a 1931 model A roadster in the rumble seat for 6 pesos and we gave him 10 as it was worth every peso! There is also an outdoor market but nothing much other than a lot of souvenir stuff. A nice little side trip. As for mosquitos, there were some in the evening and one lady got quite bitten up falling asleep out there on her lounge chair (had a few too many). Don't do that! A little Watkins goes a long way. The bars were good. The drinks were great. The entertainment great even though there are no "shows". Every night in the piano bar there was always something wonderful and relaxing. Would I suggest going there? Yes. It was a beautiful resort. We loved the beach and our room and our pool. However, if I do go back I will eat more soups and a bigger breakfast lol Maybe even bring some snacks from home. Again, it would be hard to beat if only they would change the menu a bit. Don't let it stop you from booking at the Melia Buenavista with Royal Service. We didn't starve and you could always order something else if you don't like the main dish.

Room Tip: Our room was at pool level and just outside our patio. The ocean view were nice but we really enjoy...

Dear Celry,
We have been delighted to receive your review. It feels very rewarding to acknowledge, through your words, that you found Melia Buenavista as 6 start resort.
However, we are concerned about your opinion regarding our diners in the last month of May. We inform you that since then (June), Buenavista has a new manager and executive chef who will be so pleased to show you the positive changes we have done since your last visit in the food offer.
Hoping to be able to serve you again in the near future!

This is probably the best hotel we have used in the Melia chain very select and secluded with a great deal of personal service. Staff were excellent and always at hand. The manager especially was on site every day and was open for conversation on his rounds...always made you feel you were the only guests on site..... The rooms were fabulous to say the least with the luxury of an outside shower which was well used. The 'personal butler' system was we thought a bit over the top but they were always very pleasant and helpful......Unfortunately dining in the evenings was a bit of a disaster and we took to getting the shuttle bus and going to the nearby hotels for our meals....We did bring this to the Managers attention so hopefully this problem has been addressed. Entertainment in the evenings was limited but what there was was very pleasant. Too quiet for my wife but I LOVED IT!!!!!

Room Tip: All the rooms were of excellent quality but I believe the rooms near the smaller had the edge for am...
