Have been to this resort every year for 7yrs now. You can not find a better beach, The staff is amazing, friendly and extremely helpful. This year I discovered a gem, Lorna Hernandez, every morning of my stay she prepared the best Ice Coffee, just the way I like them...losts of Ice and great Cuban coffee. Thank you for making my say memorable.

Our travel date was Sept 8/18 to Sept 15/18. Let me start by saying that we got a very good deal, therefore I was not sure what to expect.

Hotel Lobby--very small but very convenient. Many things are in the lobby area. The seating for the buffet, the check in desk, the lobby bar, the after hours snack bar, one of the A La Carte Restaraunts and the evening entertainment is held right outside the lobby. The pool is directly across from the lobby. The wifi in the lobby works great and the cards are $1.00 for an hour.

Food--the food, for Cuba, was decent. I found the buffet at the Memories resort (sister resort) had more choices. The pizza at the 24 snack bar was tasty. The crepes that are made at breakfast are very good especially if you add the chocolate buttons to the inside. I just wish there was somewhere that you could go and get maybe a cookie to go with your afternoon tea/coffee (I ended up buying a pack from the gift shop)

Rooms--Again, for Cuba, I was pleasantly surprised with our room. Very clean, mini fridge worked well, air conditioning worked great and the beds were not bad. The balcony could use a touch up but that was not a big deal.

Beach--As everyone has mentioned the beach is amazing. The water was so blue and clear. There were some jelly fish floating around when we were there, but people were just scooping them out with their hands and throwing them into the grassy area. We never had a problem getting a palapa however, the resort was very empty when we were there. The least amount of people I have ever seen at a resort and that includes Memories also. So I am not sure how easy getting a palapa would be if the resort was at full capacity.

Pool--The pool was huge and very nice. There is a swimup bar and an area to sit under umbrellas by the bar if you wish. They play music at the pool. They sometimes have a bbq at the pool at lunchtime. Daily around 3 or 4 pm there is some sort of entertainment at the pool. There may be dance lessons, there was fashion shows and games.

People--The staff that we encountered were all very nice and eager to please. We did not notice anyone who expected a tip for doing something for you (however we tipped almost everybody all the time). They work very hard and are always smiling.

Golf carts--There are golf carts that will take you around the resort. You can flag one down as you are walking or you can get the front lobby to arrange one for you.

Butlers--Staying at the Sanctuary you get two butlers, working on different days, that work on the floor in which you are staying on. The butlers will answer questions for you, get you something you may need and they are the ones who will make the A La Carte reservations. We really only used ours to make reservations for us.

All in all we had a very good time and yes I would return. You must also stay at the beach one day so you can see the sunset, it was beautiful.

our room in bungalow 61 was great, nice and private. our butlers Ricardo, Marlin and Joel were friendly and helpful. the staff at the sanctuary, Lorna and Jaraby, were exceptional. the bar staff inside the resort were so overworked so could not afford to be friendly or sociable. the bar supplies were not adequate and quite often not available (gin, mint, vermouth and so on). they could have brought supplies from the other 2 resorts that were open but almost empty. the food was just so so and often repeated with not much variety however, the breakfast omlettes were great. the toilets in the lobbies were mostly out of order and those that were open did not have toilet paper. Make sure you have a roll with you at all times. the purpose of our taking this trip was to swim in the ocean, however, the jellyfish were stinging people all the time so we never swam in the ocean although we walked the beach because it's so beautiful. the pool area was lovely, clean and always warm. we probably won't be back as it is such a long ride from the airport. we felt just because the mgr considered the resort "off season" we still paid full price and didn't get a discount to be without bar supplies and toiler paper!!! We won't be back.

Room Tip: 3 floor bungalow 61 facing the jungle, very private and quiet
