This motel is in the middle of nowhere, but very comfortable, clean, good coffee in the lobby. And a very friendly staff! We have stayed here many times over the last 3 years and have never been disappointed in Northway Motor Inn.

Room Tip: Every room has been quiet upstairs and down. The people who stay here are not late night party peop...

Stayed here two night while picking up moose hunters. Martin was an excellent host--gave us the lay-out of the town and told us some good hiking spots. He was also a great EMT for a cut leg. Beds beyond comfortable. The outdoor grill picnic area was great to get to know the other patrons while having a drink/fire :)

If you are 2/3rds up the Cassiar Highway, then let us be thankful the Northway is there in the first place, let alone year round. Undoubtedly in Canada there are far better, but equally far worse. We stayed for 2 nights so that we could visit Telegraph Creek and were very glad we had not arranged accommodation in Glenmore, but in Dease Lake. This observation is based purely on the long, but rewarding journey down there. The room itself was mixed, with the let down for us being the kitchen. There was a good bedroom area and en-suite, but the fridge smelled because it had been closed whilst turned off and there was no coffee maker and limited equipment. There was also the thought that a sickly smell when we opened the door was associated with a previous smoker in the room, but all in all we have been met with far worse. Set a couple of blocks off the highway it was also quiet, with lots of parking spaces. In Dease Lake village itself there was all you needed in the way of food, liquor, gas, pubs and "restaurants". If you don't like the thought of staying here then just keep driving.....for hours.

The beds are incredible! Best on my trip. The room is very dated, but nice and spacious. The shower is... well... in need of help... the shower head is broken so it feels as though you are having a shower underneath an outdoor hose/nozzel.

Martin (manager?) is VERY polite and understanding. Great guy. The hotel is packed with people right now so its noisy but not partying... just work crews moving around at all times of the night.

Cannot believe that this community does not have cell service and VERY limited internet. However again Martin was very accommodating.

Thanks so much!

Room Tip: Try to get a room that does not face the parking lot...

This is about the only place to stay in Dease Lake. We stayed there on our trip down the Cassiar. It was like stepping back into the 1970s...vinyl floor entry with small sink and mirror...then into the carpeted room with VERY comfortable queen bed. The bathroom is separate, behind the sink in the entry. A tiny TV, but it was on a swivel stand, so we could turn it towards the bed or table that was set up near the window.
The decor was dated, but the room seemed very clean and was comfortable. One special note about the room...Definitely do NOT flush the toilet while your loved one is in the shower...they will not like it.
There was a food stand open across the road, when we got there at 8pm, so we grabbed a quick hamburger and fries for supper. (Sadly, they are closed for the season, so it may be hard to find something to eat later in the season) There is a Cafe across the road that was closed when we got there. (We ate there for breakfast the next day)

While on our motorcycle tour of B.C. and Alaska we decided to use the westernmost access to Alaska and that takes you north on the Cassiar Highway and through Desase Lake B.C. There are two establishments in the town and we had been referred to this hotel from our friend Dennis Grose at the GMC dealership in Smithers B.C. His son is apparently neighbors with Martin (and his wife) the new owner of the Northway Motor Inn. What a great choice, thanks Dennis!

After arriving and having a pleasant conversation with Martin at the front desk we were directed to our room. The bed was very nice and the room was clean and well kept. The staff of this hotel take great pride in their work and it certainly shows especially when this is not a new building.

Martin directed us to two places to eat, the best place to eat was apparently a small red trailer parked across the street that is run by the local constable's wife and also to the pub next door that ended up being just a blast. The hotel staff also provided us with rags to clean our bike so that we were not tempted to use the proper white towels in the guestrooms. While I would never do this some do and it really makes the staff upset. But with this option everyone is happy. While I was cleaning my bike a whole bunch of other adventure bikes pulled in while headed to Argentina and just at the beginning of their trip.

We are were treated very well by this great hotel. It is a good idea to make a reservation as this is a small town and there are a few mining ventures in the area and this place can sell out. With few choices in the area you could be out in the cold so to speak without proper planning. In the winter off season they close most of the rooms down and keep about five open.

Thanks to Martin, his wife and Bill (both whom we did not have the pleasure of meeting) and this entire staff for a great experience in Dease Lake.

PS: We heard from the locals in town that Telegraph Creek was a nice place to see and the 70 mile one way dirt road is accessed in Dease Lake. We took that advice and it was just a beautiful as described. Take an extra day at the Northway Motor Inn and do the side trip to Telegraph Creek, you will be glad that you did.

Room Tip: We stayed in room #102 and it was well appointed and very clean. It has a view of the gravel parkin...

How else can one describe this place. The minute you walk in the front door you experience the worn out dirty carpet from a few generations back. Was afraid to take my shoes off in the room. I will say the beds were comfortable and other than the grubby carpet the room was clean. Unfortunately in this part of the woods everything sucks. The pub next door had pretty good steak , but overpriced for "pretty good".

Room Tip: Do not stop here. Plan your trip so that you can bypass Dease Lake entirely.

While we value reviews from our guests, we can’t agree with the way you characterize our hotel. The beds are very comfortable and they are new; as are the drapes and linens in all the rooms. Our rooms are always impeccably clean. We plan on replacing all the carpets in all the rooms and that is in progress. We have owned the Northway Motor Inn for a little over 2 years and have made some significant improvements in our time. We will continue to do so and we value input from our guests.
