“One stop”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

On our way to Alaska, we stopped off at this motor inn for one night. Dease Lake is a very small village, and this inn appeared to be the only place where you could find accomodation.

The motor inn is not on the main road - so there's less noise pollution. We checked into a room with two queenbeds. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms clean. When we entered to check in late afternoon the carpark was completely empty - in the morning it was jam packed with cars!

The lady at reception was very nice and polite and provided us with the internet connection username and password. The WIFI was great and fast - although you had a limit of 200mb (which is more than enough).

There was no coffee machine or kettle in the room to make coffee. Luckily we brought a travel kettle and the coffee they provided in the reception area.

One major negative point is the abundance in mosquitos. They were just all over the carpark area. The doors were riddled with signs that asked guests to ensure the doors were closed behind them - but of course mosquitos do get in. Some sneaked in our room and it felt quite uncomfortable and found a few bites on my arm in the morning! Obviously it's not the hotels fault - we just happened to be in area at a time where mosquitos are all over the place - perhaps bringing some mozzie spray would help at night.

Overall we were comfortable and got a good nights sleep.

We picked this hotel from reviews on TripAdvisor and in the MilePost Travel's Guide. Considering it is in the middle of nowhere, we were really surprised to find this hotel. The rooms were clean, although a little old. Glad we booked over the phone a day earlier because it was sold out when we arrived and there was no Cell Phone service anywhere around the town of Dease Lake. The hotel staff was very friendly and we enjoyed our stay there.

Very limited lodging choices in this remote area, so I guess we should be grateful for something inside. Traveling with animals, this was our first really disappointing lodging. We had read previous reviews that mentioned cleanliness--NOT! Our room smelled like vomit. It smelled like someone might have died in that room. The beds were barely tolerable--sleepless with backache kind of beds. Thank goodness for the fan to move the fetid air a bit.

We are sorry to read your recent review. The managers and housekeeprs take pride in their work and offer excelent customer service. I have enquired with the managers and they said they have not received any recent complaints. They would have appreciated the opportunity to address your concerns. As you mentioned we receive many reviews and comments on how clean the hotel is.
Best Wishes

I spent one night at the hotel recently. The room I was in faced the bar (which was closed), however people were partying until around midnight...if you stay at this hotel DO NOT stay on the bar side...

We spent 2 nights here during a closure on the Alaska Highway. The room was clean and spacious with nice pillows and a comfy bed. We were not on the parking lot side. Our room was quiet had a nice view of the grounds. The staff was friendly, helpful and the coffee in the lobby was yummy. A rack of books to share, tons of TV channels and they will even pick you up at the airport if you fly in. We appreciated the speedy WIFI as our cell phones had no service. A nice family run establishment that is aware of what travelers want today. Highly recommend.

After a stunning but long drive along the Stewart-Cassiar highway it was real treat to stumble upon this hotel on our way to Whitehorse. The couple that run the place were so warm and welcoming - we arrived quite late into town (when everything was closed) and they even offered us dinner! So sweet. The rooms were simple but immaculately clean. Bed was super comfortable! It was nice to have free (and fast!) WIFI and lots of TV channels. Lovely quiet area, we both slept like rocks! Will definitely be staying here again upon our return from Whitehorse in a few months.
