Room was very clean with two double beds and quite roomy. Staff very pleasant and helpful especially as my companion was handicapped.
Restaurant was very clean with pleasant waitresses and a good menu.

Room Tip: The rooms on the front have small refrigerators

In general, the attitude of all Tobermory hotels are "you are lucky to be here, so consider yourself fortunate". We booked a 2 Queen beds room for a family of four during peak season. It was decent, room was small and had a balcony. Breakfast was included. Lift didn't work (carried everything to the third floor). Concierge asked us to give all names of the guests (including kids?). Breakfast in the restaurant below was good. In general, no hotel in Tobermory will try to please the customer as it is hard to get a place in peak season.

My husband wanted to treat me to another wonderful adventure .... to add to our life "memories"... so glad to include this bayside restaurant ... as our dinner choice! Greek food... with staff and the owner actually personally seating us! Excellent !

I had a great ceasar salad and afternoon tea at the hotel. I had free parking between having brunch and afternoon tea and great service so could not ask for more. They have a nice patio or equally good is harbour views from inside.

Room Tip: great views and airconditioned

On arrival a Korean woman was sobbing at the front desk. The receptionist showed no sympathy towards her and was blatantly rude to her. As she left to get her car registration details to complete the check in process, the receptionist told us "that you can't be too careful" as she rubbed hand sanitizer over the pen the Korean visitor had just used to complete her booking form. Disgraceful behaviour, with shocking racist overtones.

This bigotry was later exemplified by her description of a walking trail - to the same guests - as the "handicapped trail". Which we happened to overhear as we'd returned to exit the hotel after taking our luggage to our room.

Reception area:
Dirty/grubby
Cluttered/jumbled
Very little physical space
An unpleasant smell, emanating from who knows where. A heady mixture of old cooking fat and mildew.

Lift
Out of order.

Corridors
Airless.
Narrow.
Dark.

Room
Quite simply appalling.
Carpet stained, cheap and thin. I'm sure that this contributed to the fug in the room.
Beds - very uncomfortable. No valance. Blanket not duvet. I did not dare to look at the mattress!
Pillows - goodness only knows how old these were. They were also very uncomfortable.
Grimy walls and ceiling.
Dusty lampshades.
Curtains that barely closed.
The WiFi password was on a scratty slip of paper that had been pushed under the glass topper/protector on the bedside table!

Bathroom
Smelt dreadful.
Dirty seals around sink and bath.
Old grey (should have been white) towels.
A notice stuck to the wall with ageing sellotape.

We were booked in for two nights. We had to stay the first night - nowhere else to go in town/we'd also had a drink with dinner- but found alternative accommodation for the second.

As we checked out the receptionist didn't ask why we were leaving early or if there was a problem. Completely disinterested.

I would not stay here again under any circumstances. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Stayed: July 2017
