We stayed here for 2 nights whilst travelling around Ontario and although we loved our visit to Tobermory we did have a few issues with this motel.

Yes, the price ($157) was a bit steep but then it was August and we did have a prime location overlooking the water.

Our room (UNIT 38) was easily accessed from a corridor (whose walls were covered with carpet !!) and it did have air con but we didn't in fact need to use it so no idea how efficient it was - it looked as if it came out of some museum ! The furnishings were OK but there was a distinct lack of attention to detail - creased curtains and bed valences, sticky marks on the door, dust on the headboard. There were no coffee making facilities provided which I found very unusual in this day and age although we did get included 4 plastic "throw away" glasses. Mind you, we used these on day one and they were NOT replaced for the next - how cheap can you get !

We were able to walk to all the "must see" attractions in Tobermory with ease including Foodland for grocery shopping and a choice of restaurants. A plus for the motel's location.

We made use of the "buy one get one free" offer for the boat tours offered by the motel - a good perk.

We did have 2 main issues with the motel which we did bring up with the management.

One - the motel was 100% no smoking (another plus) but then they allowed smoking on the balcony running past our room. We had opened our window to let in fresh air rather than having to put on the air con but when the people staying next to us sat virtually outside our room smoking we had to close the window to stop the smell of smoke from getting in. Also this meant that if we wanted to also sit on the balcony to admire the harbourfront view we were subjected to their cigarette smoke if they were also around.

Two - and this again was about the balcony use. The key to our room only worked on the door from the passageway not from the balcony - not an issue - we thought this a good idea as it would mean that the area in from of our room could only be accessed by ourselves - BUT NO !! We found that a large group from another room nearby would come out from their room onto the balcony and with no "excuse me" proceed to clamber around us as we sat eating breakfast so that they could walk down to the waterfront. Not impressed.

To sum up - difficult to beat for location but ...........

The motel has a great location, and takes good advantage of this with muskoka chairs on the lawn overlooking the harbour. There are gas fired BBQs that can be used and so on a sunny day this place is lovely.

The rooms are clean, while not air conditioned the room had a very quiet fan that could be used. However, I thought the room was small, we had the 2 x double bed room, and there was barely anywhere to put 2 suitcases. There was no in-room coffee, or breakfast, so it felt like an expensive option. The wifi was poor, unless you were within 10 feet of the office you could not get the signal.

We stayed in July of 2013. The room was very basic and clean. The hotel was quiet when we were there. Furniture was a bit dated and a little worn. However, the location was great, the harbour and ferry are basically next door.

For what we paid -rip off. Will consider camping. First. It might have Wifi but you can't actually connect...went to visitor centre and easily connected so crap that its the area. Secondly the cable to the tv gave only fuzzy reception - kid in front couldn't help that either, there 3 days never fixed. No coffee pot, kettle and with adjustments on bar fridge all food continually came out frozen. Room carpet dirty and felt like we where in an old cottage. At $150 plusa ngt. Ripped off
Honestly how this gets a 3rd rating is beyond me. The little things matter. Lol of course white carpeting on the hall walls was a scarey sign

Yes, the sheets are clean and the view is great. Other than that, there is nothing: no A/C, no closet, no safe, only two old lamps, the bathroom is tiny, everything is old and shows signs of decay and several repairs and coats of paint. The mattress was so bad...it reminded me of an old mattress I had when I was a student, actually the whole room feels like a dorm room.
I find the rate we paid ($107) too high and unjustified. After all, the view is free and accessible from anywhere in the city and I don't consider clean sheets a privilege.

Our room was a basic motel room, but I loved the hardwood floors and the cross breeze from windows that opened on two sides plus the bathroom window making it three sides. Although kitchenettes are available, we opted for the room only (with a small fridge) because we were only staying one night. It's very clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is located in the downtown area of Tobermory overlooking the harbor. We were not on the harborside, but they provide plenty of seating and picnic tables to enjoy the view. I would recommend it and would stay again if I were to return to Tobermory.

Stayed for 2 night this week. It was great with our 4 and 1 yr old kids. Staff was friendly, room was clean (units 31 and 32) and had a mini-fridge that looked new. Didn't have a view, but it didn't matter since we were only in the room to sleep. There was also seating all around the motel so that you could watch the harbour. The washroom was tiny and not as updated as the rest of the unit, but perfectly functional. The motel location was awesome. Right on the harbour so that you could walk around the harbour to restaurants and also walk to see the Manitoulin Island ferry. The boats to Flowerpot Island were also at the back of the motel. We did not use our car for the entire stay. Our reservation also included 2 for 1 vouchers for any Blue Heron cruise. We used it for Flowerpot island which was good value since those tickets cost about $37 per adult. The motel also had bbqs for the guests to use. I might plan to do that next time. Overall, I would recommend this motel to others.
