“Tip of Peninsula's most exotic place to Eat”

Wonderful service with quality food selection that will delight the taste buds. They also have a neat cultural store to browse for funky wear for both ken and woman. They have muck lucks, hippy accessories, rings, dresses, hats, and so much more. It's like a Turkish bazaar. Make this one of your stops during your adventure in Tobermory.

“don't miss this place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 3, 2011

Wonderful fresh take on food. Someday I have to try eating my way through the menu.
An artisan feel to the decorating very cosy. We really liked how they built around a living tree and made it a part of the surroundings. And after eating check out the boutique for some unique gift ideas and fun things to have around the house. It is so hard to limit how much time to spend here.
The staff is wonderful it is one of those places where everthing works.

“Quality food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2011

Several options for dinner but they don't offer a dinner menu- we almost passed figuring they didn't serve dinner. Hard to tell from outside. Pleasant staff, interesting place. They made dinner up just as we asked, fresh fish, greens etc even though not on the menu. Fair wine options, great quality dessert with espresso- nice ending!

“Mermaid, More like a joke shop. learn some magic tricks because your going to disappear”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2011

This place is so wonderful to look at and must be operated by someone without any restaurant experience other than maybe cleaning one up. More staff than customers and can't even make anything in under 45 minutes. It was like being in a daycare center with a bunch of kids that were playing house. How this place is in business is the question of the century. Food was okay but when it takes that long it should be something worth waiting for.
Mermaids Secret will be a distant memory, washed out to sea, sooner the better.

“Excellent food, service and extremely accommodating!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2011

We have spent the last 4 summers in the Bruce and regularly visit Tobermory throughout the summer. We paid our first visit to the Mermaid's Secret this month and were so pleased. What a refreshing change from the usual deep fried fish & chips and drinks in plastic cups (that cost $70 for a family of 4!)
My son has various food intolerances and the staff were extremely willing to work with us and were very accommodating. The food was all fresh, homemade and consisted of a great variety of sandwiches, wraps etc. The atmosphere was fun and relaxed. We didn't save room for dessert or coffee, but I know they serve Kicking Horse coffee and it is one of the best. We have raved about our lunch to all of our local friends and were much rather spend the $$ here than for greasy fish and chips in a plastic basket. Lunch is great and there is a gorgeous patio on a nice sunny day.
