“The best place to end our holiday in Calabria”

My husband and I cruised the Calabrian coast in 10 days, spending the last 3 in Palazzo Pizzo. And we're very happy we did!

Communication through email with Susan, the owner, is very easy. She already sent a house manual and city guide beforehand which gave me the chance to familiarise with it prior to my arrival. Although Susan wasn't in the country, her father-in-law Angelo, was. He called me a few times to ensure our meeting time and place. Upon arrival, Angelo was waiting for us at the main square, gave us a warm welcome, showed us the house, the garage and a bit of the town. There was a cold prosecco waiting in the refrigerator which my husband and I shared while watcing the sunset.

The house is old, beautiful and large for 2 persons. It is built on a cliff overlooking the Tyrrhenian sea and the Stromboli in the far distance. I love the whole set-up of Palazzo Pizzo especially the high stone ceilings, light shining through the glass windows and doors with views to the sea and our own private terrace. Yes, our own private terrace where we spent all late afternoons, sipping apperativo, watching the setting sun and the changing colors of the sky, taking pictures of it and sharing them online. (Wifi is fast!).

The kitchen is a plus esp. for long stays. We didn't really use it coz we lacked the need to cook as we were out evryday till late. And there are a lot of good restaurant recommendations in Susan's city guide, all within 2min-10min on foot. We ate out all 3 nights, and we ate very well.

Check the website of Palazzo Pizzo. The photos and infos don't lie.

Thank you, Susan and Angelo, for making our holiday in Pizzo a memorable one. We hope to return in the near future.

Warm regards from cold and wet Netherlands.

“A fabulous experience - highly recommended.”

In order to relax after our daughter's wedding in Ravello, Amalfi coast, my wife and I decided to stay in Italy to soak up the atmosphere before heading back home. We wanted to travel from Salerno to Palermo by train but felt it necessary to split our journey due to the duration.
I searched the internet for a mid-way location and came upon the town of Pizzo and from there, had the good fortune to stumble upon the Palazzo Pizzo Residence, owned by Susan Croseto.
From the moment I contacted Susan, she could not have been more attentive and I knew I was dealing with a hospitality professional. Having booked the property, she arranged for us to be picked up at the train station on arrival and dropped back on our departure. On arrival in the apartment, we were met by Susan's father-in-law, Angelo who presented us with a chilled bottle of wine and water and once settled, treated us to a tour of the town and an espresso, hospitality at it's best.
As can be seen from the photos, the property and location are fantastic. For once, the photos may not do justice to the splendid accommodation.. The privacy of the apartment, the layout, the facilities and the detail to attention are the best I have ever come across.
The town of Pizzo is charming and quaint and to have found such a wonderful accommodation added to the delightful experience. What a wonderful five days we spent here.
I cannot thank Susan and Angelo enough for the wonderful reception on arrival and for the experience of staying in such a wonderful location/accommodation.
I would highly recommend this property to anyone intending to stay in this area.

Wow, mille grazie, Michael for this awesome review! Pizzo is indeed ideally located for a stop over when travelling between Amalfi and Sicily, with only a 2 1/2 hours train ride from Salerno. We are thrilled you and your wife enjoyed everything!

A really lovely apartment which is renovated beautifully in a fabulous location. The town of Pizzo is amazing and has a really good choice of places to eat and drink all of which are on the doorstep of the apartment. The locals were also some of the friendliest we have met. Very enjoyable and recommended.

“A very beautiful apartment in a wonderful seaside location”

The view from the terrace alone makes this apartment an outstanding place to stay (on a clear day you can even see Stromboli). Spacious, and comfortable, Palazzo Pizzo's apartment is newly renovated and everything is in excellent condition. The published photos (http://www.palazzopizzo.com and http://www.flickr.com/photos/suzie888/sets/72157632993421476/) tell a true story. It is a lovely place to spend a weekend or a month. The wifi is very good, which means it's a great escape if you want to get some work done. The walk down to the beach is probably 10 minutes, and there you'll find a selection of good restaurants, bars and gelaterias. The walk to Piazza della Republica is less than 5 minutes and there you'll find more restaurants, bars and gelaterias. A little shopping street leads from the piazza (Via San Francesco) with everything from the fishmonger to the jeweler to the ceramics studio and a little combo record/book shop. Even in winter most of the shops were opened. In summer, it's probably a perfact little high street. The town does not subsist on a tourist trade alone, so there is a vibrant and friendly local community all year round. The region boasts beautiful beaches, Greek, Roman and medieval remains, good museums (particularly Vibo Valentia and Milteo, and a bit farther the National Archeological Museum at Reggio), and proximity to the Aspromonte National Park. The roads are good and uncrowded. Oh yes, I highly recommend this apartment!

“Amazing apartment in Pizzo”

This amazing apartment is just two minutes walk from the main square and is situated in a newly renovated Palazzo. The apartment has uninterrupted sea views and its own terrace on which we enjoyed breakfast in the morning and the odd aperitiv in the evening while watching the sun set, with Stromboli illuminated in the background.
The apartment has a lovely tiled shower area - from which you can choose to use the "rain" head or a hand held unit.
The interior of the apartment makes full use of the original stone, contrasted with clean white walls. The kitchen is simple but elegant with gas hob, modern cooker/microwave and toaster (which was particularly good for uneven shapes of bread).
Booking the apartment online was really easy and although the owner was away at the time we stayed we were extremely well looked after by her parents in law who couldn't have been more helpful in making our stay comfortable. If you can drag yourself away from the views, there is a new flatscreen TV, Hi-Fi, Wi-Fi (reliable), etc. Although we stayed for 4 nights, our son joined us for one night, occupying the Sofa bed at a very reasonable charge.Pizzo is a very charming town and this apartment is an ideal place to stay.

“Amazing views, beautiful apartment, wonderful host”

We stayed at the Palazzo Pizzo for the Ferroagosto holiday weekend. The pictures in the listing were beautiful, but the place in person went beyond that! There were huge windows in the hallway, a big window in the bathroom, doors in the kitchen - all with an uninterrupted view of the sea - amazingly beautiful! Even the livingroom had doors to the terrace (as did the kitchen), and the terrace had a cute table and chairs, and beautiful views of the sea. We loved waking up to beautiful views of the sea, and relaxing at the end of the night with colorful sunsets over the water. We could even see the eruptions of Stromboli from the kitchen balcony late at night. The host, Susanne, was very communicative prior to arriving, and helpful in our needs while there (extra pillows, hairdryer, and even let us borrow a beach umbrella!). She greeted us with a smile and was a wonderful host. She even gave us breakfast coupons to use at the nearby Belvedere Bar for cappucino/caffe and cornetti - so gracious! Even though it was the middle of August and hot, the apartment was cool for us, and there was a fan in the bedroom we used at night. We were nervous that there were not air conditioners - but we didn't need it! We kept all of the windows and doors open (there were pull screens to protect from mosquitoes), the breeze moved through the apartment, we were very comfortable, and we weren't hot. The decor was nice, everything looked new, and we loved the stone walls and airy feel. We would definitely stay here again if we are in Pizzo. This is also a great place to stay for any honeymooners - very romantic!

Dear Brandi,

Thank you very much for taking your time for such a great review! We are very happy that you enjoyed staying with us at Palazzo Pizzo. The pleasure was on our site - you are the guests every host is wishing for!

BTW, you were very lucky to have seen Stromboli's eruption by night - from the residence!

Hope to see you again, kind regards,
Susanne
