“Fantastic location, superb staff, brilliant holiday!”
Reviewed March 17, 2011

We have just returned from a week's skiing holiday, staying at the Alp Hotel in St Martin de Belleville. We travelled by train from St Pancras to Moutiers and arrived at the hotel at about 7am. Having had no sleep on the train, it was lovely to be greeted by such warm surroundings and friendly staff. We were shown into the TV room where we were supplied with fresh coffee and they even apologised that our room wasn't ready! Obviously we were not entitled to a room until later in the day, but it was such a change to have such a warm welcome. Having crashed out for a couple of hours on the comfy sofas, we were then offered a shower (downstairs in the sauna) and breakfast, which set us up to begin our first day's skiing.

The entire week went faultlessly. The staff - without fail - were always smiling, always genuinely happy to help. Our room, on the second floor, which had already been upgraded since the new owners had taken over, was warm and comfortable. The location was perfect - within 50 metres of the gondola.

On the last day, when we were not being picked up until 8pm, we were again afforded the luxury of a shower after skiing and the co-owner even offered to make us some baguettes for the journey home.

We would certainly return to this resort - and this hotel - without any hesitation.

We stayed at the Alp Hotel the second week of February when we skied the Trois Vallee region. We had stayed at the Alp Hotel ten years ago and found that the hotel has changed owners and has a different feel, but it looks like it will be a good change. The new bar area has been added on and is really appealing and there is a very energetic young staff that are really helpful and multi-lingual. I'm sure the rooms will get some upgrading soon, but the evening meal makes up for any lack there. We found the evening meal to be excellent with large portions and the breakfast was good too. You cannot find a more convenient way to get right to the skiing with the telecabine right out the door of the hotel. We recommend this hotel because of its location in the traditional village of St. Martin de Belleville in the midst of the large ski region "Les Trois Vallee", its proximity to the telecabine and the excellent evening meal.

Just had a great weeks ski holiday at the Alp Hotel. Its a brilliant location only 50m from St Martin gondola and ski straight to boot room. Food was simple but excellent , with superb New Years Eve special meal with free wine. Decor rustic and lovely, bar has been refurbished along with one floor (2) of bedrooms.

If you want an excellent skiing holiday aimed at small groups or families you can't go wrong here. The best thing about it is that it is on the bottom of the piste and two steps from the bubble lift. Two ski shops are within a stone's throw and it also has a fab terrace to soak up the sun and beer when you are not skiing which is a minutes walk from the lift. The downstairs is very piney and cosy with a wood burner and sofas, sauna etc., upstairs very warm and comfy rooms but not luxurious or big and all with balcony and loads of hot water. The set menu is fine for children but not much more expensive to go a la carte - we had very good savoyard fondue on the half board and excellent steak on the carte menu. The owners went out
of their way to make us feel welcome and were extremely informative.
Very much recommended for basic but clean and warm family hotel as a fantastic base for skiing the three valleys.
