Ok. So you pay at the turist center in town. You go down to the penguin area. And this is a stadium. With buses and tons of people coming that for a second I thought we are going to see some sort of sports show. The entire place is filled with small penguin stores designed to make you spend money(it goes to the penguins. So fine)you walk to the terrace. And the lady tells everyone in English and in Chinese NOT TO TAKE PICTURES AND NOT STAND UP when the penguins arrive. And what do you know. Once the tiny creatures appear. The cameras start clicking and the people start to stand and try to get a better view.
The ideas behind this place is wonderful. To execution. Not so much. They should either decrease the amount of people going in. Or at least. Place some big screens that show the penguins on shore. Could also help the weak eyed people to see them come to shore in the darkness.

Pay the extra to get the best seats in the first seating area. We were only 30 cms from these beautiful creatures. Watching mother nature and her tiny penguins was a highlight of our holiday.

Its pretty windy in the evening there, we went there early to occupy a good seat expecting good view of penguins swim back from oceans. I have come here before 2 years ago, but this time i did not see as many penguins as last time.
Tips: you wont be able to see large group of penguins walking along the beach, just wait along the walkway you will be able to have close encounter with them while they slowly walk back to their "nest", mostly handmade boxes for them.

We paid the extra for the VIP tour. Maximum group of 10 people. We took a minibus to the other side of the bay and sat on the beach with night vision goggles and earphones so we could listen to our expert Riccardo (amazingly passionate about penguins)..... he made our experience special..... then we helped counting the penguins (they do this every night to keep a record).... and then we slowly walked back.... this is where you see the most penguins....seeing their natural habitats and behaviour..... we would definitely recommend paying the extra for the experience so you aren't crammed in with a 1000 others where we have been told you can't see very much...... also it was good to hear all money is put back into the conservation....non profit making organisation.

Yesterday my partner and I saw the penguin parade on Phillip Island. Once again since the beginning of our australian holiday it made us more aware of our precious environment, the flora and the fauna. We sincerely hope our grand children will get to admire and enjoy the beauty and diversity of Mother Earth.
