Went to the Mai Kai for dinner during our stay at the Four Seasons in Bora Bora. Transportation from the hotel to Vaitape must be arranged and paid for but once in Vaitape the restaurant picks you up.
The Mai Kai is run by the chef who used to run the Yacht Club restaurant that has so many excellent reviews on TA. I am happy to report that the excellence continues in the new venue. The chef himself will appear at your table to welcome you and inform you of the many off menu specials available that evening. You may then choose from a plethora of exciting choices of Polynesian inspired French fusion dishes. Most are a tad pricey but none more than what will pay elsewhere in BB. A good selection of wines is also available and the service is excellent.
The restaurant is in a now defunct hotel and sits on the water though all the seating is indoors. The decor is a bit dated but cozy.
All in all an excellent dining experience and well worth the trip.
