“Great experience (despite so-so service) - best burger yet”
Reviewed September 18, 2012

In Texas we call this "grilling", and we don't mind the smoke. :-) I had the BBQ meat special (chicken, hamburger, sausage, rib eye on skewers) - all very tasty (lekker!), and the sauces delicious as well. As for the burger, ahhhhhh, real BEEF - not the ubiquitous formed disk that looks just right and tastes all wrong. The sides were delicious too - ziti pasta salad and another of tomatoes, cucumber & cubed goat cheese. Great compliments to the grilled meat, as were a Sol (for homesickness' sake) and a witbier. And I had pineapple (also from the grill) dipped in dark chocolate. All this after spending an enjoyable afternoon walking on the beach, flying my kite in the early autumn wind off the North Sea (yes, wearing a light coat - but then I'm a damn Yankee really, so a chilly walk on the beach is fine with me). It was really nice coming in behind the windscreens & under the huge umbrellas, into the warm fire- and candle-light, the smell of lovely meat, and the sounds of a light, jazzy playlist and friends and families and couples chatting and laughing over the music. The outdoor sofa was very comfortable in both cooking and chilling out positions. There was a friendly, well-behaved dog with the family nearest me. Just nearly heaven on earth for me.

The ONLY blot on this otherwise idyllic evening was that I had to hunt down a server, although the bartender had told me to have a seat and one would come to me. I chose a seat near other diners, at a table with a burning fire pot - I wasn't exactly hiding - and waited. The three servers moved among the tables & fire pits, skillfully avoiding even the most peripheral eye contact, until at last one forgot herself for just a moment and looked my way. After that things improved, but service was still slow at best. The season is winding down - not sure if that's it. But it has to be said: don't go here if slow service will ruin an otherwise great time for you.

For my part, it didn't. I'm going back one more time before they close for the season on 8 Oct.

“Grilling your own food on beach. Totally cool”
Reviewed June 10, 2012 via mobile

Sit out side with cocktails. They bring your raw food and you cook. They will cook for you as well. Great concept. I am sure it would go in the states only I am sure some stupid law exist that would. O allow it.

“Best Sol of the Netherlands”
Reviewed March 27, 2012

The beach seasson starts in March and ends in October. From the second week of March Sol Beach welcomes her guests.
I have first visited Sol Beach in 2002 and fell already in love with the place.
It provides a relaxed atmosphere, hippie style, good food and real DIY BBQ on charcoal.

For tourists outside the city, Sol Beach can easily be bypassed beacause it looks more of a Beach Shack then one of the more luxurious ones on the beach.

And thats their charm.

We give Sol Beach high points and this is why:

-Nice relaxed atmosphere,
-Nice and friendly people,
-Very good Service
-BBQ on your own table,
-Even Service on the Beachbeds!
-Has her own "crowd"

And if you want to organize your game event, Sol Beach is the Place as well.
