We recently returned from a trip to Orgiva for their end of season fiesta (Feria) and wanted to let people know about the little gem of a house we stayed in.
We've been visiting Orgiva for a number of years now and love the place. It's a small, still very Spanish town in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Whilst it might not be the prettiest place in Spain, it has some lovely old buildings, plenty of bars and restaurants and the people are great! It's also a good place to base yourself to explore the 'white villages' further up in the mountains, the wonderful city of Granada or the beaches of the Costa Tropical.
On all of our previous visits we have stayed in various country properties approx 15 - 30 minutes walk from Orgiva. This time we decided we would like to stay in town for a change. Having scanned the choices of properties available we picked this one and are so very glad we did! We met the host, Peter, on the edge of town and he showed us where to go and the parking area nearby. The description of the house was found to be accurate and everything was very clean well presented on arrival. From the street there are stairs to the first floor which opens out into the main living room with a good sized modern kitchen, dining and living area. You have a small balcony that you can sit out on and watch the world go by. Up another set of stairs you find the two bedrooms (both a very good size - the double has it's own balcony as well) and smart new bathroom. The last flight of stairs takes you to a small utility room with washing machine and a door that leads to the large roof terrace. This was my favourite area with lovely views across town to the church and mountains beyond. A great place to sit on a sunny morning with a bit of breakfast or just to calm down with a night cap after a busy evening in town!
It only takes about 2 - 3 minutes to be in the centre of town by foot but is far enough away not to be disturbed by any of the celebrations that may be going on!
All in all I can't recommend this highly enough -a great house and great hosts!
