Description: Prashad is an award winning Indian vegetarian restaurant in the heart of West Yorkshire. It is based in a renovated pub building in Drighlington, which has been transformed into an intimate and vibrant Gujarati eaterie. It features a large bar area where the in-house mixologist serves up perfectly-matched cocktails, locally-brewed beers and wines with roadside snacks and Indian tapas. There are three different dining areas and a snug that can be individually booked for private parties. The open pass kitchen brings the passionate Head Chef and her team closer to the customers. In the last 12 months alone we have been awarded the Morrisons Magazine Great Grub Award 2013, the Yorkshire Life Chef of the Year 2013 (which Minal and Kaushy won jointly), the Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand 2014, and the Yorkshire Evening Post Oliver Awards Best Indian Restaurant 2014!

We went to Prashad to celebrate my birthday with the family who were down from Newcastle. We had been wanting to go to Prashad for a while but we were apprehensive about the whole menu being vegetarian but none of us missed not having any meat at all. We were all amazed from start to finish. The food was exceptional and the best Indian food I have ever tasted. The cocktails, mock tails and real ales went down a treat! The family want a Prashad in Newcastle! We will definitely be back nothing more to say than it was amazing, thank you.

Visited Bradford for two reasons : the theatre and Prashad's. Not sure how Bradford can afford to lose this restaurant to Drighlington but the restaurant was full so obviously the move has been a successful one. A competent cocktail list was a pleasant surprise but the focus was all on the food. Taking the advice of other reviewers, focused on a tasting platter, resisted dipping into the roadside snacks (which sounded lovely) and went for the Chef's Thali and the Chole. All terrific, great flavours and the overriding thought was...what to choose next time...By the way, any establishment which responds consistently to negative reviews is to be commended.

Ok - not a new idea, I know. Beer and curry? How can this be something to get really excited by. But it is. Prashad have teamed up with the Sparrow Bier Cafe to host a beer and curry event that truly is special. Although I've been to the Sparrow on many occasions, I've never been to Prashad, so I wasn't too sure what to expect. The evening was simply superb. There were six courses of wonderful, delicate food that managed to whet your appetite for more rather than leave you feeling bloated. Each course was accompanied by a glass of beer chosen to match the food and both food and beer were explained by Prashad and Sparrow staff. The beers were simply fabulous and included Belgian lambic beer, Bavarian wheat beer, and American pale ales. My firm favourite was the pethi - a crisp potato case with the most wonderful aromatic coconut and coriander filling. This was accompanied by a delicious coconut beer. Wow! Both Prashad and Sparrow staff were wonderful and made the event truly special, winning a round of applause from appreciative diners. I'll definitely return to Prashad (and the Sparrow) but I hope that the beer and curry event becomes a regular fixture because it was just so much fun.

Tonight was our first visit to Prashad's new premises...we wondered if it would have lost its individual charm and become more of a 'business' but we need not have worried. As usual Bobby was on the floor meeting and greeting and the new restaurant is really lovely, nicely decorated and has the light and space that the old one lacked.

The addition of a bar is certainly a good one the pineapple and coconut mojitos are amazing! The service is still very personable and friendly and the waiters still know their menu back to front, explain dishes and recommend combinations etc.

We had the tasting platter starter to share (£10.49) with the special chaat (£5.65) which anyone going to Prashad MUST try in our opinion these dishes sum up what Prashad is all about and they are the best things on the menu. You will not get flavours like this in any other indian restaurant. We shared the chole (£9.45) and tarka dhal (£6.95) with a massala dosa (£8.95). The curries were delicious only slight critisism was the dhal was a bit salty for our taste but we still managed to eat every scrap! For dessert we had the gajar halva (£5.75 hot slow cooked carrots caramelised and infused with cardamom) this was completely delicious the perfect balance of flavours not too sweet with a subtle cardamon flavour - a really surprising dish - save room to try this!

We are not vegetarian but even the most carnivorous of diner would not miss meat at Prashad. You are getting high class, authentic indian cooking at the same price as you would pay in any of the ten a penny 'indian' restaurants you could find all over the country. You will taste each spice without an inch of ghee left on your plate. Prashad is an experience not just a meal.

From the brief wait at the bar, through the wonderful mocktails, the fabulous starters (eyes bigger than stomachs for the whole group), wonderful main courses, the awesome masala chai to the attentive & efficient service, this was an experience to savour. Wonderful ambience, funky yet tasteful decor and what looked to be a full house as we left (completely understandable). The move to new premises has been successful. Here's to many more visits.
