Very expensive for what is available. Poor choice for vegetarians, limited menu anyway and things not available. We had a bottle of champagne and were expected to pour it ourselves, food was average. Won't be going back and wouldn't recommend

Stayed here for one night as a couple as found the experience was great.

The room only cost us £29.99 so it was a bargain especially for a Friday night. The room was spacious and had all of the things you would expect from a hotel room. The room was spotless.

Very friendly staff at the hotel. The guy working behind the bar their was very helpful and friendly towards us. He was even sending up a midnight snack to someone who had requested some snacks.

No complaints about this hotel and I would stay here in future if I am staying in the area.

I would recommend this hotel to family and friends!!

Stayed one night for a birthday party, the room was ok,the staff were polite and friendly, the prices at the bar were rediculous, asked how much for a bottle of wine was told the cheapest they did was £17 or house wine, asked how much for just a glass and was tols £4.20,when it was poured and served the price had gone up to £5,when i asked why was told they had decided not to give house wine but another one to finish off a bottle. My wife drank half of it then began to feel ill so went outside and began to re enact scenes from the Exorcist, projectile vomitting everywhere.God knows what they served her.
Decided best thing to do was to go back to room and wait for it all to pass, but any chance of sleep went with the noise from other guests chasing up and down the corridor and generally being noisey.Dont know if we just picked a bad night but for what they charge just for a room and then serve up dodgey alcohol i dont think we will ever go back.

Room Tip: stay somewhere else

Spur of the moment decision to have a late (3pm) lunch on Sunday. The Kyte always has been a nice place to enter with the bright, contemporary interior and warm temperature level on what was a cold day.The restaurant area needs some thought after the sun has set to maintain ambience- close the blinds; turn down the too bright lighting and put large candles on the tables. And hide away the kitchen door and it's surrounds. Hardly anyone else there with plenty of staff on duty.Problem is when places are quiet that is when staff tend to talk to each other and not be attentive to customers. That is what happened to us because it took too long for our order to be taken- anyone in charge to ensure that this is not happening? Training to set standards? Some competitors in the area are buzzing- maybe they look after the customers better. We were in a little trepidation re what to order given that it was almost 4pm by then and we thought we may get main lunch time warm ups. Starters were good but not a big choice. and for mains we stuck with roast beef, yorkshires, veg and gravy. A lovely suprise- beef very good and tender and served rare as requested-yorkshires well cooked and veg very nice selection. Had a brandy snap and fresh fruit salad for desert. All in all a very enjoyable meal at a reasonable price but the wine is expensive for glasses of ordinary house wine.If there had been more people there the slow service could have taken the edge off the occasion. We would go again some time- a nice place but it could be so much better.

I went with some friends for the Christmas party night (£29.95 a head) on Friday 21 December.

Bar staff were unusually good tonight.

Starter : pâté nice but a significant lack of bread/Melba toast. We asked for more and a bowl of brown bread arrived.

Main: roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, carrots, swede/turnip (wasn't 100%) sure wrapped in what turned out to be leek.

Roast beef - two good slices of meat which would have been better used to re-sole my shoe. (Evidently not the first time - see previous reviews). Yorkshire pudding - v nice. Roast potatoes poor. Swede yuk. Carrots were lovely. Plenty of gravy. Horseradish sauce tasted cheap and weak.

We did complain about the beef and were offered a free drink - which turned out to be 3 bottles of wine. 5 of us had beef. Didn't help those that were not drinking!

Desert: Christmas pudding and some kind of sauce (not sure if rum brandy or what it was) with a v strange swirl of what could have been strawberry sauce. Plates cold for a hot desert - which was luke warm when It arrived. It was a mass produced pudding about 2.5 inches across. (V similar to hazel wood castle the day before).

Coffee: arrived 30 mins after desert and was piping hot.

Service: average

The same meal is available at £18.95 on any day but Friday and Saturday though there is a disco included on Friday and Saturday. Not sure it's worth £11 per head though. But the choice if music was v good.

I am told the turkey was v nice, as was the Black Forest gateaux and the sticky toffee pudding.

In the gents the have bottles of Scottish fine soaps sea kelp - which would be nice if the contents of the bottles match the description rather than cheap hand wash used to refill the bottles.

Overall it was the usual poor experience that I come to expect.

Recommendation : give it a miss so as not to disappoint.

I can not thank the Staff here enough the service was excellent, we had our Engagement Party here on Saturday the 10th December and even though the hotel was also hosting a Christmas dinner dance the service provided to us and our guests was excellent. Feedback from our guests included great buffet and lovely contemporary venue. Special thanks to Jessica, Johnathan & Kate for looking after us all so well.

we attended a wedding here, but didn't stay the night. My reason for the review is that there was a severe lack of customer servive throughout the day, especially from the bar staff. There didn't appear to be a master of ceremony to lead the wedding, and the champagne to toast after the speeches was forgotten about, and only given out after we had finished our meal, afte the bride chased it up, and seated back in the lounge. The wedding meal itself wasn't brilliant. Pate to start to was the best bit, all 6 of us had roast beef for mains, which was tough as old boots, and I mean really tough! It was also lacking in accompaniements too! Beef was served with 2 roast potatoes and some strips of vegetable wrapped up with a bit of leek, a yorkshire pudding (which was nice!) and a tiny amount of gravy. Dessert was chocolate fudge cake which was served cold (a travesty!) with a thumb nail amount of squirty cream. It was far too dry. We eventually asked for some runny cream which was brought in a minuscule jug, and had 6 of us fighting for it! We were invited by the wedding couple to join them for breakfast the next morning, but we opted to have breakfast at the premier inn down the road where we were staying, even though we were going to have to pay for it, as the breakfast that morning had been fantastic, and the service outstanding. The toilets were lovely, and the lounge ws very comfortable. Not sure if I would want to have my wedding there though.
