We have just returned from Golf de Medoc (2 couples) where we stayed for 3 nights.
The service was excellent in the bar, restaurant, spa and reception. The outside terrace is wonderful in the sunshine with a large glass of wine! We really enjoyed the food as well.
The rooms are perfectly adequate, with everything you need, and a very comfortable bed. We were disappointed not to have a view of the course, but as we did not spend much time in the room, it wasnt really a problem. I suspect other rooms have better light, as ours seemed a bit dark.
Our men played golf and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. The course is indeed very dry at present. They didnt need to book in advance, and the course did not seem particularly crowded. Note - You can not hire golf shoes in the shop here.
We used the the spa. Having booked a teatment, you are free to use the facilities including the pool and steam room. The pool is more of a giant jacuzzi with jets and bubbles, which I guess is why it has to be indoors. We spent time on the sun beds in the spa, but other than us, the spa seemed to be deserted for most of the weekend. I agree that an outside pool would be an improvement, but only if the price is then included in the room rates.
Front desk kindly arranged a wine tour to Chateau Giscours, which was very enjoyable. They also recommended and arranged an evening meal at Le Savoie, which was excellent. what can be better than drinking Margaux in Margaux !
On the down side, this hotel is further from Bordeaux that I had expected. We went into Bordeaux and back by taxi, and it was around 60 euros each way. Add on the cost of the taxis to Giscours & Savoie, and the overall cost of the trip begins to add up !
This is a great place if your primary objective is to play golf, then relax and enjoy a nice meal.

I stayed here with a party of 14 male golfers for 4 nights from 27th June 2011. The Hotel is not pretty but it is certainly very comfortable, well managed, and has many features that will appeal to a wide range of visitors. The staff are excellent and we were all impressed by their diligence and friendly faces. Almost everyone spoke english. We managed to negotiate a rate of €145 per night for single occupancy b & b. Two of our group shared a twin for €170. Breakfast was more than adequate and every taste is catered for. Dinner at €40 was excellent. Lunch on the club terrace was available at €26 and there are snacks at modest prices. As expected the wine list is dominated by Bordeaux and there are some fabulous wines on their extensive list. The rooms were quiet, well furnished, and air conditioned. They are rightly proud of their very comfortable beds. We did not use the spa but it seemed to offer every comfort and a wide range of treatments. It also contains a nice heated indoor pool. The two championship golf courses attached to the hotel were in good condition considering the drought that has provided no measurable rain for over three months. The Chateau course is the most difficult test but the Vignes course is by far the prettier. There are plenty of nice level walks available and the area abounds with wildlife. Nearby are some gorgeous villages with famous 'wine label' names. However, taxi prices are very steep with a journey of 20 minutes to Margaux, costing €60.
The only disadvantage at the hotel is that there is no outside pool. Accordingly if you visit this fine hotel with a partner who does not play golf there is nowhere for her to lay by the pool and work on her tan.

Room Tip: Ask for a west facing room

Loved the location and the quietness of the hotel surrounded by the golf courses. Modern, somewhat ostentatious building, with little charm but very comfortable. Very small "standard" rooms for the (high) price, yet very clean with well-equipped bathrooms. Slow service at the restaurant (not enough staff) and disappointing quality (bad fish). Too few choices of wine by the glass. While some staff members were friendly and professional, others weren't. Extra charge for fitness/pool isn't user-friendly, room-rate should be all-inclusive. Not sure I would go back, the price-quality ration just isn't there yet.
