Had a lovely meal here again today - brought a group of friends who were new to the area and it was complements all round for the delicious home cooked food. The Mason's is a very welcoming pub with great ales, friendly staff and amazing food - the pies are a must! Nice walks near by make it a great place to end up after exploring the local area, especially when the two fires are going. I'd definitely recommend it!

me and my partner just called in this great pub after being to the garden centre and what a joy it was, the service we got was brilliant , we had two small pies with a couple of drinks and the pies were delicious, the atmosphere was very welcoming the best thing about this pub, well is everything really its hard to choose, the open fires, great food, and very friendly staff make this pub what it is fantastic.

I must admit I was about weary after reading the review about the rude landlord but this could not be further from the truth. Me and my husband arrived at the pub with our two small children I sat down with the children whilst my husband went and got our drinks and within seconds the landlord came over with colouring books and crayons for the kids and then sat down helping them to write their Christmas lists. Shortly after our food arrived (we were quite surprised how quickly it did) the portions were huge and the food was absolutely delicious cannot fault it at all. Then during our meal we had 3 further visits from the cook, the landlord and the bar staff asking was everything ok and could they get us anything, did the children need spoons. Even though stuffed we could not leave without trying one of the several delicious desserts we had to choose from, and when they arrived we were not disappointed huge sponge puddings with custard galore and even chocolate twist biscuits added for the kids. The meals here are fantastic for value for money and we found the staff pleasant, friendly, and helpful infact they could not do enough for us. As a mum of two kids there are not many places where you go where the kids feel so welcome, the tables all chat with each other, the log fire is roaring its a lovely friendly atmosphere, the kids left smiling and asking when can we go back and we definitely will what a fantastic little find cannot praise The Masons Arms enough 10/10 from us!!!

I eat here on a regular basis, nothing is too much trouble, they have a good wine selection (for those that don't drink ale or beer) very friendly, comfortable pub with a homely roaring fire. Staff and landlord very accommodating and Shirley's home cooked food is delicious.
