“Fabulous, will definitely return!”
Reviewed June 20, 2011

This 10 bedroomed hotel is located a 5 minute walk from the town centre and immediately opposite the station.

We were impressed as soon as we walked through the door. The bar area is clean and contemporary with comfortable seating. The hotel has been refurbished during the last 2 - 3 years with great attention to detail so that there is a consistent feel from the bar area through to the dining area. For those that like their beer cask ale is available.

Room 3 was clean, bright and to the same standard as the downstairs bar. There is no reason to think that the other rooms have not been completed to the same standard. There was no bath but the shower was spacious and very clean. Unlike some that I have experienced the shower delivered water at more than adequate pressure.

The restaurant lives up to its motto " We don't do fast food, we do good food as fast as possible". Everything is reasonably priced and portion sizes generous, the mixed grill is particularly good value.

I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

me and 10 of my friends (all female except 2) booked a table for one of the friends birthday. we arrive and were seated, we ordered our food at 8pm at got our starters 40 mins later!! our mains didnt arrive until 9.30pm! not olnly that, staff did the call back check before all the food had been brought out. food was cold, had accompliments missing, burnt, bland, and just generally lacking! when the plates were being cleared we expressed our concerns, and were told "theres noting we can do". 9/10 of us ate hardly any of our main meals if any at all. we were not offered coffee or desserts and there was never any memeber of staff around to speak to. the staff just lingered behind the bar having a good old chin wag! perfect for local gossip!! we confrunted the manager and owner explaining how we felt and that we did not think the full bill was appropriate, we paid the bill except £12.50 which we thought was only fair. They were not happy with this and resulted in them barring us. no great loss to us really!!

Our two young children, my husband and I spent two nights here whilst we visited for a wedding.

All the staff we met were polite and friendly - nothing seemed too much trouble. The room was clean and pleasantly decorated with ample towels.

Breakfast was delicious. obviously good quality ingredients.

Would recommend as a good place to base yourself to explore the surrounding area

We never intended coming here.
Missing our train from Rochdale to Smithy Bridge with a 30 minute wait my wife and i
decided we would tackle the unknown and go to "Toddy" as the locals say.
The train guard advised that if we didn`t want to walk around the Town the best thing to do would be to walk across the road from the Railway Station to the "Queen" where they did, quote. "a smashing meal".
Armed with this knowledge we sped to Toddy. The pub has recently been fully refurbished, the facia looking magnificent.Entering , you are met with vibrant decor ,contempory paintings, splended casual seating, ian nviting bar,Real Ale.nice Wine menu etc,Resteraunt facilities with tables well presented and seating extreemly comfortable.
The bar staff were extremely helpful as was the Area Manager. The food menu was superb and our short stay was a trip well worth doing again.
Management have a promotion between 5pm and 7pm where a starter and main course where market with a "T" saved £3/4 compared to a meal taken at lunch time.
Finally, the toilets were spotlessly clean and tidy, always to my mind,a measure of the Establishment one is visiting.
We will certainly be coming back and sooner rather than later.Well done to all concerned.

this is a lovely friendly hotel ,but unfortunatly it is right next door to a church,so it is best not to stay there on a satuday evening,
the rooms need re- decorating as the wallpaer was peeling and there was a damp patch on the ceiling(we stayed in room 1) .the hotel was very generous with the tea?coffee, unlike most other hotels.
but the comfort is great and the bed linen not too starchy like most hotels,if only we hadnt stayed saturday night.this would have been the best nights sleep we had in the uk during our month long trip.
the food was execellent.

This is a great establishment handily placed right opposite Todmorden railway station which has regular rail services to Manchester, (35 mins) Leeds(55 mins), Bradford(35 mins) and Halifax (25 mins).

The rooms are located above a pub and restaurant but they were clean with good facilities. The best thing was the price - considering it gave free access to the health club it was very reasonable.

  • Liked — pool and jacuzzi
