“Very enjoyable holiday for us”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2009

Had a lovely holiday here back in 2006. Stayed in a two-bedroom villa which was lovely and very spacious. It had a garden too - nothing fancy about it, but it was nice to be able to sit outside in privacy. Also easy access to our car which we could park right beside the villa.

You really need to hire a car if you are staying here. There's nothing really in the immediate area to walk to. We drove to Fayence most nights and fell in love with the place. It has a lovely atmosphere and plenty of choice of nice restaurants.

Pool wasn't great but none of us enjoy sitting around a pool anyway so it didn't bother us. We didn't use the restaurant/bar in the hotel as it was too expensive and always dead anyway.

So, if you are looking for a nice place to say, more than comfortable, from which you are going to explore the surrounding areas, I would say this place is great.

Accommodation is based in range of village houses and villas designed in Provencal style. We stayed in a pretty village house with 2 double bedrooms and a small, enclosed garden forming part of a small Mediterranean woodland. Lavenders, olive trees, cork oaks and pine together with extensive planting is around the site. House was clean and had all the facilities needed for a holiday. The reception staff were helpful and able to answer our enquiries, even finding information on the internet on our behalf.
On the occasions we went to the outdoor pool, the water was warm and we had no problems finding somewhere to sit. Although there is limited space immediately around the pool for loungers, there is an extensive grass area for bathers to use.
There is a smart restaurant on site offering a range of themed evening meals and also a snack menu was available. Although expensive by British standards, the prices we found we not dissimilar to many other restaurants in the area. The exchange rate certainly made everything appear more expensive. We like to travel round and visit places when on holiday and therefore experience life in the local villages, which were very attractive. Often we went to the coast a 45 min drive to sandy beaches.....not unreasonable.
We noted that there was a "Kids Club" open every day and a teenager club called "Ados"
The facilities on site are extensive and cater for different customer groups for instance the indoor spa, sauna and steam room. We have stayed at the resort on a number of occasions at different times of the year and have always enjoyed our stay. Our teenage sons have enjoyed the pool and Ados, making lots of new friends. End of July and August is the busiest time and it is certainly quiet at the beginning and end of the season as is typical in France. We have always found many things to do in the area whatever season we have visited.
The best features are the attractive layout, parking fairly close to the houses, open space, fabulous outside pool and spa and friendly staff. An ideal location to access the mountains, sea and traditional villages.

Very remote location with little to do nearby, villa very basic and gardens very poor. Restaurant very expensive and no atmosphere, swimming pool a no go area. We complained to the manager and he agreed with us and said he has asked for things to change but his manager's refused; he suggested we check out - we did!

The town of fayence nearby (car needed) is pretty and has an excellent michelin star restaurant.

I will never in a million years return and urge you to avoid it at all costs!

Hi
We had a nice holiday in the Domaine, but like the last reviewer we will not be returning. While the house was nice and the setting beautiful the location was not ideal. The pool was so busy and not enough chairs, as we had young children sitting on grass outside was not an option so we were forced to sit on the concrete. Alternative was to get up and Q early - not my idea of a holiday. Thew snack bar at pool was over priced as was the restuarant - the food was awful the night we ate there (a buffet) with no atmosphere (as no one there - for good reason). Also not child friendly.

Overall the Domaine was very pretty altough not well maintained - the "gardens" for each house were very rough. The place looks like it needs a face lift. It is also so so remote - the alternative to the pool was an hours drive to a beach - with traffic and parking issues as most beaches. Also there was no where to eat within walking distance - so you had to drive everywhere.

So if you want a quite holiday in a remote location then you may well love this place - but not for us I am afraid.

This place can only be rated average, swimming pool is cold despite hot and nice weather which is a problem when you have small kids. Bigger problem is that there is a lack of deck chairs at the swimming pool, in fact there should be twice as much. As the pool area only opens at 10 h in the morning (!) people were lining up 15 min before door opening in order to run for a chair where they could place their towels. Those who could not find a place ended up sitting in the grass in between the fence and the road. Totally crazy. At 6.30pm pool is closed which is way too early in the midst of the summer. There is nothing for kids, no babysitting. In fact we ended up at the beach every day which is about 1h driving.

Easy to get to (40 mins fro Nice airport). Cannes is 30 mins away and St Tropez the same. Mountain villages drop dead charming. Seillans is one of the best villages in France apparently, dating back to the dark ages. Some of the views from these mountain villages take your breath away.

The resort is well thought out in pastel coulours and scented bushes and trees. The hotel and restaurant are Ok but very very expensive due partly to the euro exchange rate.
Reception is mediocre as far as help goes.
Villas/apartments are clean and spacious.
Pool is perfect for families being safe, large and clean.
MUST rent a car though. Totally impractical without. Lots to do and see. St Tropez surprisingly 'unspoilt' making it a pleasant experience.
If you are looking for a rural unspoilt beautiful part of the world - stay here.

We booked this because we love the south of france, and thought the resort would be child friendly. Now, I know October is low season, but the place was dead, and like the Yul Bryner film Westworld, the only noise we heard was golf buggys zooming about the streets with staff on board, changing the sheets for the apparently imaginary guests.

The "villa" was nice enough, a terraced house, but the "private garden" was an overgrown bit of open land, that our toddler could not play on. The "baby pack" that we paid for was not there and we had to argue to get it, the travel cot had no instruction (yes, we have one of our own, but this required a degree to erect), and as reception closed at 5pm (no great loss as they were less than helpful), we got a girl from the bar to come and advise. We couldn;t get the cooker to work, but a maintenance guy appeared and knowingly pushed some buttons. Why they don;t have clear basic instructions, we don't know (we asked, but they think that a stack of manufacturers brochures shoved in a drawer suffices). Then, after a few days, water from the shower came though the ceiling, and we were moved two doors down where miraculously, there was a welcome pack, and basic utensils that had not been in the original villa. Spooky

Unperturbed, we sought out the facilities. The poolside snack bar was closed (wrong time of year), the main pool was freezing (fair enough, it is not heated), and the "spa" pool did not allow toddlers. We tried to find the "kids club"...........but it was closed, wrong time of year.

The restaurant was too upmarket to sit with a noisy baby, so we ate in.

The reception area had next to no info re local attractions and it was not clear you could order baguettes etc from reception, to uplift the next day.

So, in summary, don;t go out of season (especially with kids), do make sure you know the area because you won;t get any help from reception, and if you see Yul Bryner................run
