A wonderful experience! Peaceful farm surroundings, small art gallery and the best prawns and crème brulee ever! Owner, Melanie Albertyn has a special touch with everything she creates. Delicious gourmet dishes to the beautiful landscape paintings in her small gallery. She is always prepared to assist in any special function or celebration.

The food is less than mediocre, quite frankly stay at home and cook yourself. A mussel soup containing three mussels is simply not good enough, and trying to pass Gammon off as pork nek is certainly unacceptable. Pasta with yellow cheese on top ! Great views and friendly service but shocking food. How they survive I really don't now.

New Year's Eve at Nacht Wacht was a feast. From being greeted by the elegant hostess through to the last delicious morsel, it was special.

The setting is beautiful, the staff friendly and efficient. The set menu was delicious: a starter of prawns and mussels with a selection of sushi on the side, springbok carpaccio, then fillet and yellowtail for main choice, finished off with cheesecake and crime brûlée. A fine selection of wines on offer.

Definitely worth a visit!

Surprisingly, our experience did not echo the positive tripadvisor reviews that originally drew us to this restaurant. The setting is lovely. Cosy indoor/outdoor restaurant in the country. We visited during the busy December holiday season. The food was mediocre, which was surprising, given all of the rave reviews. My fiancé and I both had starter salads which were nice, but not as described. I had the smoked pork neck, which was tender and well cooked, but the sides were a real disappointment. I ordered it with mash, but got chips and some very limp veggies. My fiancé had the calamari steak, which was really fishy and came with the same uninspired side dishes as my pork neck. His feedback that the calamari was "fishy", was met with smiles and nods, but no effort to rectify the situation. We shared the cheesecake for dessert, which was our meal's saving grace. It seemed to us that the restaurant was running without the oversight of the owner, and that it is probably a much better restaurant for hearty, wintery dishes. Their fresh components fell flat, but the comfort food was still good. Given the positive reviews, I'd give this place another try, but wouldn't mission out to the hinterland to do so.
