Having been to the Pudding Club and stay at the Three Ways House Hotel before we decided that it would be a great venue for celebrating our 40th birthdays with close friends and family. So about nine months before the event we contacted the hotel and asked if they could possibly give us a good rate on a mixture of Two Night Pudding Club Breaks and One Night Pudding Club Breaks for six groups of people, which are advertised on their website as:

- A one night stay includes accommodation, full breakfast, two places at a meeting of The Pudding Club with a copy of Great British Puddings – the latest recipe book and Vat.

- A two night stay includes accommodation, two places at a meeting of The Pudding Club on one night and dinner in the restaurant on the other night, full breakfast, a copy of Great British Puddings –the latest recipe book- and Vat.

It was a nice surprise when they agreed, effectively knocking 10% off the cost for all groups. It certainly helped us justify what on the surface seems a slightly pricey hotel and event.

The nine months disappeared quickly to what turned out to be a great weekend. We arrived at the hotel to a warm welcome and were shown to our room. The room was clean and tidy, if a little small. The rest of our party had similar experiences with a mixture of room sizes and bed sizes. Something to be expected with a hotel that has clearly been extended a number of times we guess, but to charge the same rate for all of them is a little misleading.

The Pudding Club itself was a great evening, a good mixture of puddings with lashings of custard. Most of the eleven people in our party managed the full seven and we all left with certificates in hand. The event was well organised and a lot of fun. The staff involved clearly put in a lot of effort to make it great and we think that everyone will have a lasting memory of the experience.

Breakfast the next morning was of an equal standard. A lot of choice (both hot and cold) and of good quality. The staff continued to be extremely attentive and helpful. The hotel had set a table for us so that we could all share breakfast together. A nice touch.

The next day over half of our party left, leaving five of us to spend a relaxing day in and around the hotel and make use of their bar and lunchtime menu. In the evening four of us then had a really good three course meal in the restaurant, retiring to the bar afterwards with continued exceptional service from the staff. Followed by yet another great breakfast on our final day.

The small detail that spoilt it? Well ...

In the descriptions of the Pudding Club Breaks (above) it states quite clearly that both types of break include a copy of their recipe book. As members of our party left we gradually learnt that none of them had been given a book. Upon querying this with reception we were told "You have not booked the right type of Pudding Club Break". Of course, we questioned this as we had no recollection of there being more than one choice.

We left the hotel disappointed by the fact that all six groups in our party had expected a book and none of them were to receive them. We chose not to have an argument with reception over the desk because we didn't have the exact details of their website in front of us, and we didn't want to spoil what had so far been a great weekend.

About an hour-and-a-half later (we believe) reception called us to tell us that they could understand the confusion, and in fact other people not in our party had raised similar issues with him. As a goodwill gesture they stated that they would send us a book in the post. Whilst we appreciate the gesture, it is a little hard to share a book between six households. Upon stating that all groups had been confused they decided to send out a second book. Two out of six is better than none, but it doesn't really fix the damage caused and another four books is hardly going to break the bank given all of the money that our party spent over the weekend on accommodation, dinners, lunches, drinks, bar bills, and so on.

We received books and spent an additional £40 with Amazon on four books for those that missed out.

So in summary; the Pudding Club is a great event and a lot of fun. The hotel is nice and the staff very helpful. However, double check that you will get what you believe is included in the package, and don't expect a room of the size you'd get in other hotels of this price.

Room Tip: The pudding themed rooms are nice, but not really any bigger than some of the standard rooms. If yo...

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Three Ways House Hotel on Saturday night. It was easy to get to and we experienced great service and hospitality during our stay. We were lucky enough enough to sleep in the Sticky Toffee and Date Room which was great fun and really added to our trip. We had a delicious breakfast and all the ingredients had been sourced locally. I would definitely recommend the 3 Ways to any of our friends who are looking to get away from the city for a relaxing weekend in the Cotswolds.

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the pudding club rooms which was great fun and good value

My son and I had one night here in August as part of our driving holiday through the UK.

We arrived late afternoon, before heading off soon after to attend the Battle Proms event at Radley Hall, about 20 minutes away. We didn't return to the hotel until late that night.

Our room overlooked the car park, but we had no difficulty with noise during our stay. The car park was full on our return from our night out, but we were able to park in the street: luckily, visitors to the hotel were leaving as we arrived back.

The room was comfortable and large enough; the bathroom appeared to have been fairly recently refurbished and was bright and airy. Wifi reception was good.

The public areas of the hotel are a treat - beautifully and comfortably styled. Breakfast was ample and delicious and service, from all encountered, was helpful and welcoming. The outdoors area is a gorgeous spot on a beautiful day.

Although we had only a brief stay, it was very comfortable and enjoyable. It is also a handy stepping off point for exploring the Cotswolds and nearby areas.

The hotel has 2 standards. The main entrance and common parts are excellent, the staff are welcoming and the décor is very tasteful and well maintained.

The room that we had in the new wing was however quite different. It was very small with what I would describe as an occasional double bed. Luckily my wife and I are not overweight as it was very narrow. I could not hang more than 1 jacket in the wardrobe without removing the suitcase rack and the easy chair was in a corner under the TV in such a way that you would hit your head when sitting down. On the plus side, the room and bathroom were very clean in common with the rest of the hotel.

We went to The Pudding Club which was a great deal of fun mainly due to the humour and charm of The Pudding Master.

The breakfast was excellent, well presented. The dining room was tastefully decorated and the staff helpful.

Overall a good experience but because of the room size I would say it was over priced.

Room Tip: As for a large room if available.

I took my team of 13 to the Three Ways hotel for a couple of days activities. The Hotel couldn't have been more accommodating. From start to finish we were well looked after and so well fed it was almost too hard to work!

If you get the opportunity you should try 'The Pudding Club' - it was great fun making biscuits, decorating cakes and making chocolate pudding. The only problem was that we were so full we wouldn't eat most of what we prepared.

Dinner and breakfast were fantastic. As was the log fire in the lounge.

Meeting facilities were everything you would need, and free wifi was a bonus.

Rooms were large and comfortable, and bathrooms excellent.

In all, highly recommended!

Room Tip: Go for a themed room for something a bit different

From the warm welcome to the cheery farewell, the staff at the Three Ways House hotel were delightful! I suppose this is a typical Cotswolds hotel with lots of period charm and character. We arrived way before check in time as we were meeting a friend for a day of walking. We were invited to wait in the lounge, which has newspapers and board games available and when our friend arrived they showed him through and offered us all tea. When we finally checked in we were escorted to our room with a kind offer to wrap the low beam in case I cracked my head on it (I'm 6'6"). No need! The room was clean and very well laid out and decorated. Lovely bathroom with of course Molton Brown toiletries. We eat in the restaurant and the food was well prepared and plentiful. I had to have the triple taster pudding with custard and was not disappointed! All and all, a very pleasant stay at a lovely hotel!

The hotel is located in a delightful Cotswold village and in easy reach of a number of attractions such as National Trust properties and several attractive towns and villages.
The rooms were a little small but were immaculately clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with a good range of locally sourced food which was hot and well cooked.
The restaurant looked inviting and delightfully decorated but we did not try the evening meal. The hotel is well known for the Pudding Club which takes place on a Friday. The main course is light and is really an appetiser. The main events are the puddings which are traditional British and consequently filling. There are 7 to try but few progressed beyond 4 or 5. The Club involves sitting at tables with other parties and is not an individual dining experience but most guests would know this.
Overall this is a pleasant and well sited hotel for the Cotswolds with helpful staff.

Room Tip: Try for one overlooking the garden. It would be quieter and with a pleasant outlook.
