“Reasonable and quiet”
Review of La Rosiere

La Rosiere
Reviewed March 26, 2018

La Rosiere is small, quiet and sunny (especially in good weather) village. Les Eucherts is a small off shoot from La Rosiere linked by a street light forest walk to the east - the children call this the 'Narnia Walk'...

Within La Rosiere there are a number of chalets in this village with associated ski shops, 1 Carrefour, a cinema in the same complex as the lift office, a pharmacy and a number of restaurants. There are a number of ski runs/lifts here as well as walking trails.

We did feel that getting young children up the mountain was limited to chair lifts which meant that those parents wanting to take their young families up the mountain could not do so...there is one bubble from La Thuile though this does not help if you are staying in La Rosiere. Furthermore, once you did get up the mountain through the chair lift system that there were no close restaurants/cafes. This may not bother people, we wanted to share the mountain experience with our family which we could not unless you were much older and able to either walk or partake in snow sports. The resort is quiet and ideal to learn to ski with 2 ski schools and a variety of snow sport shops located within easy walking distance.

La Eucherts is a quaint village with a newer feel to it, offering bowling (we did not make use of this so can't comment) and a number of ski shops/restaurants. There is a single supermarket with limited opening hours.

We decided to spend new year in La Rosiere with our Daughters 6&9 and their grandparents.
This was our family ski break which would normally be half term. We had seen reports of fantastic snow fall and more to continue.
This may have been a little too much as our transfer from Grenoble of 2.5 hours ended up to be 9 hours. I would like to thank our coach driver though as he was fabulous and must have been very tired but still made it to the resort instead of leaving us somewhere overnight.
We did miss our first day ski due to our late arrival (4am).
Our children was booked into evolution 2 for their ski lessons. Fantastic for them as more fun focused than other ski schools I have used before. Especially Philippe.
My 9 year old is a bit shy and he was perfect for her lessons.
Visibility was poor on most days due to snow and rain. Ski lifts was very restricted with only drag lifts open for two of our days.
I do know what a great resort this is as I had been here in March 2017.
Just wish others could experience the access to Italy and the whole ski area.
Managed one good days ski on the Friday as clear and sunny.
Still a good week in France. Due back on March.
Favorite restaurants McKinleys and bar La Comptoir.
Ski Hire used ski set Olympic centre.
Great equipment and friendly staff.
Excellent place.
See you soon.

It was our family’s first time skiing and this resort was recommended to us as good for families. Our son is 9. A range of ski schools for adults and children.

There is a great range of slopes for all levels. Great restaurants. Lovely chalets. I would absolutely recommend and will return.

This small skiing place is very pleasant well organised and snow guaranteed.
In the many year we've been here there was always snow around Christmas and new year. Good shops, slopes and skiing school. With direct trains from London, Amsterdam etc easy to reach. Most locals even speak English.

The view is breathtaking, the skiing is sublime for skiers of all levels, the off-piste powder is the best I've skied in Europe, and the hospitality and authentic Savoyard flavor of this charming French alpine village that welcomes English speaking tourists makes for lasting memories that will keep you coming back for more. The prices are great value and the fact that it is connected to the Italian ski resort of La Thuile makes it a great ski destination.
