Three friends and I had dinner here on the night of our arrival in Tuscany. We were received like family with the most perfect hospitality. We ordered wild mushroom pasta and house white wine. Soon after, a woman arrived with beautiful mushrooms from the forest. This meal was a repeat for us three more times before we left. One night, chef Stefan prepared our special request of rabbit.
The wine was excellent and we bought several bottles to bring home. We knew we had discovered a hidden treasure. In this simple place off the main tourist route. We would love to return to Italy and eat here every day.

Although I Tre Rioni is listed as being in Castiglione D'Orcia on tripadvisor, it is actually in the town of Campiglia D'Orcia a few miles away. I Tre Rioni is a restaurant with rooms - the restaurant seems to be the heart of the business.

Our rooms were upstairs - ours was very pretty, with views in two directions, and contained both a double and a single bed. The bedframe was iron, and the furniture antique. The bathroom was well equipped - the only (very minor) thing missing was a shower shelf.

Breakfast was excellent: fresh and toasted bread, hams and salami, a dish of creamy ricotta cheese and another of delicious chestnut spread, home made apricot jam,and three small and tasty slices of cake each - an apricot tart, apricot cake and dark chocolate and orange cake.

We were made to feel very welcome and relaxed - we hope to return!
