We spent two nights at this incredible place. It was an old monastery, then a farm house and now a residence. Our spacious room (living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom) was on the ground floor. It was a bit cool as it was October but this room would be wonderful during the very hot summer months. There were a couple of unique (at least to me) features. There was a concrete trough at the head of the bed (below the window) that was presumably used by cows when farm animals had access to this ground floor room when it was a farm house. There was also a unique cave like fire pit that used to be used for burning leftovers after the olive oil was removed from the olives. The lady in charge was very helpful by providing a good map and suggestions for touring the Tuscany area. She also suggested an excellent restaurant within walking distance. The residence is within a short walk to Colle di Val d'Elsa and a very short car ride to San Gimignano, Sienna and the Chianti region. It is a very good and inexpensive base to explore the region.
