Villa Sabolini Hotel
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed July 11, 2014

We have stayed in Villa Sabolini for two nights and loved it. The room is exactly the same as in photos, very clean, all the services that were inlcluded are actually there. The bathroom is very clean and modern.
The villa is set in a nice place on a hill, where you can enjoy the view and the garden, and most importantly, the swimming pool.
The breakfast is served in the garden and it's simple but very good (a continental breakfast in a form of a buffet). The staff is very polite and helpful. The hotel offers meals in their restaurant, but they are quite pricey so I'd recommend going to one of the neighborhood towns.
The hotel is located a few minutes driving from Colle Val d'Elsa, therefore you can easily reach Monteriggioni, San Gimignano, and Siena.

Villa Sabolini is a very nice place to stay. 3 star category.
Every evening a 4 dishes menu a la carte. Salad, pasta, beef fish or poultry and dessert.
Delicious but after a while repetitive.
Breakfast simple but good.
The hotel is a typical Tuscany villa. Minuspoint is that rooms are very small with no terrace. Drinks are expensive for a 3 star hotel.
Swimming pool is large with enough sunbeds. Friendly people.
The environment is very quiet, far away from the busy curies of Tuscany.

I stayed at the hotel for one night with my boyfriend as part of a smartbox gift. The setting in Tuscany is lovely and when we walked into the courtyard area, the first impression was that it was a cute hotel. With a little restructuring however, the rooms could be a lot better. They are not bad, and I don't think I am picky about small details, but the rooms look a little run down and the bathrooms are quite old and really could use a little TLC. What I am picky about is service level, because I think with minimal effort and courtesy it is possible to dramatically raise the level of the experience. As part of the smartbox, dinner was included, but there were a couple things on the fixed menu that we were not able to eat. The manager made it seem like this was something that was unacceptable for us to be asking, when we would have been satisfied with just a slight change to the menu, such as pasta without the sauce. He was very rude and more or less said to us that since we were only staying one night at the hotel that we were not worth his time, as many of the guests were staying one week or more, he made it obvious that he would focus on them. In addition, I found it very difficult to sleep because there were kids that were playing on the foozball table until late into the night and I could here the sounds from our 2nd floor room. If the staff had made a better effort with the service, I would have gladly overlooked the other shortfalls, but as it was I will not return to this hotel.
