We have just spent a week in the Duke's Apt at La Pieve. We wanted to explore the surrounding hill towns but also to be deep in the countryside to relax and take long walks.
This was the perfect location for us. At the time we were there we had the place to ourselves but the arrangement of the three apts is such that privacy would be assured even if all apts were occupied. I shall never forget sitting under a pomegranite tree in the warmth of a late autumn afternoon and seeing three deer in a nearby plowed field or walking in the beech forests and olive groves that surrounded the property.
The host and hostess were delightful and nothing was too much trouble without ever intruding on our privacy.
A car is essential and there is a very good restaurant close by. However being autumn, mushrooms were plentiful and it was a delight to cook simple meals for ourselves and eat them in the lovely setting. The apt itself was decorated with great style and the surrounding countryside as beautiful as any I have seen. It didn't come cheap but it was worth every cent.
