First class is all I have to say. What made it even better was the warmth and close attention of the staff who managed to do so without pretension.

“Once again a FABULOUS Meal!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 9, 2013

We are self professed foodies who are fortunate to have a villa in Chianti, which we visit a couple of times a year. We, love Tuscany and it's food & wine(who doesn't?) and have dined at many great restaurants in the region.

This charming little restaurant is always a favorite for us to revisit.

The chef, Laura, and her husband, host: Salvatore are both excellent at what they do.

Laura is a true gourmet and her attention to the minute details of aromatic herbs, fresh carefully curated ingredients and succulent sauces is SUPERB. The flavors are both delicate and robust in whichever direction the food dictates.

We feel that the food at La Botte, is consistently the most savory and compelling of many of our favorite restaurants.

We generally have our last meal in Chianti at La Botte on each visit, so that we can keep the flavors fresh in our memories for our trip back home.

If you REALLY appreciate local, seasonal, artisan food, served with grace; you will LOVE this gem.

“Disappointing”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2013

The Osteria la Botte is a small restaurant in Vagliagli, a village just north of Siena. The host and his wife/chef were gracious and sincere in their desire to provide an enjoyable dining experience. We have no reason to doubt that she is a talented chef. However, they made it clear that she was from Northern Italy, and she had strong ideas about how some things, such as risotto should be cooked. Italian cooking is very regional, and she may be correct about her approach in Northern Italy. But we were on holiday in Tuscany and Chianti, and we were surprised to encounter crunchy and oily risotto as well as crisp, under-cooked potatoes having marveled at similar entrees in other restaurants in the area. She may be a gourmet in the north, but the food here was a great disappointment in Chianti. We were also a bit put off by the sales pitch for a local winery at the end of the meal. It seemed somewhat inappropriate. And the final disappointment was the decaf coffee that tasted exactly like instant.  Our meal here was the only poor meal we encountered in 14 days in Chianti.

we are sorry that we have disappointed your expectations but we also have reason to be disappointed by your review and I'll explain why: Italian cuisine it's very regional but the rules are common all over Italy like the fiorentina steak should be eaten rare as well as pasta and risotto should be eaten “al dente”, then tastes are different from person to person .Therefore we proposed to do it again but you refused saying it was very good and preferred to eat on italian way! Regarding our complimentary wine tour, usually is very much appreciated by other guests and is not for sale wine, but a free tasting offered by us and one of the best winery in Tuscany. Anyhow, what is more disappointing about your review is that it was unexpected because you do not say anything to us but thanking us for a lovely evening.

“Wonderful dining experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2013

Had dinner here on a summer's night. Too cold for the terrace but inside decor is typical Italian rustic and very cosy. Staff are attentive and friendly, you can feel their passion for good food and wine. The food combines the best Italian local produce with modern twists - that work. Clean, succulent flavours that embody the culinary experience of Italy. Highly recommend this place.

“Lovely dining place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

Drove the hard way from Florence to the restaurant thanks to the Tom Tom GPS. I almost gave up half way driving there because of the long gravel unpaved way. Anyway got to the restaurant one hour behind the booking time. Salvatore, the owner was sitting in front of the restaurant the time I arrived (hoping to see me ?). The restaurant was located uphill and at the end of the road so cars were parked around the restaurant. There is a much bigger restaurant just located next door. La Botte is a smaller sized restaurant.

There were 2 other tables at the time we arrived on the Sunday.

After the owner’s explanation of the menu, we ordered a crostini with fresh toppings. The bread was warm and fresh. Toppings were fresh and tasty. We finished all the bread on the table. Then came the pasta with tomatoes. Taste is just right and ingredients were fresh. Then came the beef with potatoes on a hot iron plate. Portion is enough, food is sizzling hot. We have to transfer all the beef to our dish to avoid overcooking on the iron plate. Already sliced beef is tender and good taste. Potato is freshly grilled. Finally we have the tiramisu as desert. It is a bit too sweet for me.

While La Botte is quiet, all the people at the tables are enjoying the environment. I occasionally hear noise from the restaurant next door. The inside of the restaurant is quite big in fact so if you have a bigger party you may choose to sit indoor.

Though the restaurant is a bit remote unless you stay in the area, it is still a fine restaurant that you may like to visit.
