Nice hotel, always prefer staying there but absolutely no incentive for regular customers...not even a DISCOUNTED cooked breakfast!

Whenever you try to book a room with breakfast the price shoots up through the roof!Believe me after having had breakfast there on a few occasions the 'bump up' in price is definitely NOT justifiable!

Bargain price for two nights on B.com. Everything was great, friendly staff, quiet quite large room, with view over fields.
Wonderful old manor set in its own grounds, with modern extensions for accommodation. Beautiful wooden staircase, newly decorated rooms. Much better than a travelodge for a similar price. Not easily accessible without a car. Breakfast at £10 each seems a bit steep, so we didn't bother.

We stayed in Mercure Bankfield on one cold March night. The building is an old, probably classified hotel with 2 contemporary extensions. By "contemporary" I mean though that they are, or at least look, a good 40 years old themselves.
The lobby, restaurant and a gallery-style main staircase are all nice, full of character and quite 'atmospheric'. The receptionist was very nice, as was the Italian girl in the bar.
The extensions, unfortunately, lack the character of the central bit, and look and feel rather beige, dated and stuffy. Say, Days Inn comes to one's mind. The room was alright, apart from two features. One of them was the "power" of the shower - it seemed on its death bed. Luckily, the bath was of a big, wide, deep, steel standard of days gone (much better than anything found in budget hotels), and the tap had no problems with water pressure, which made up for lack of the shower. The other was the temperature of the room - it got really bloody cold during the night, even with the heater fully open (and getting quite hot at times), to the point that I woke up several times and couldn't go back to sleep for being so cold.
One other slight drawback was that while the female breakfast host was nice and polite, the other - male - seemed to be on his last nerves, stroppy and clearly not coping with the influx of people. I made a mistake and dared asking him for coffee, which then landed on my table some 15 minutes later but without a single word from the host...
To sum it up: the hotel was alright, not quite up to Mercure standards but so wasn't the price - I think £40 per room when booked only a week or so in advance took me quite far. And I loved the bath ;).

Stayed here and had a family room for three adults. Really large room, although in the old part of the hotel the room had been revamped. Very clean. Staff very courteous and attentive especially Peter in the restaurant. Only downside is that the reception area and outside facade look a little tired. Would recommend.

Different standard of rooms - older rooms a bit dated and tired but always clean. Creaky corridors in the main building which is Gothic in appearance - very old but impressive. The newer block has much more modern rooms/lift and decor etc. Lovely grounds. Sometimes service is a bit slow to arrive in the bar if quiet (go to reception to chase). Reasonable selection for breakfast. Hot breakfast items are however quite often cooked in quantity and left to dry out/overcook if you don't have an early one. Careful you don't have a late one either as it's cleared away pretty rapidly as well. Have eaten in the evening and good quality food. Staff always helpful and attentive. I've certainly stayed in better hotels but generally like it here and convenient for my business trips in the area.

Excellent stay. Service, Food, Room were very good. One of the best Mercure Hotels I have stayed in and only a 3 star hotel? All staff were smart and very helpfull. The Restaurant is small but you can also eat in the bar which is spacous. The food though was very good as was the service. I have stayed in a few 4 star Mercure Hotels, but this one is top of my list so far. Anyway I can do without a swimming pool for a day or two! Many thanks for a very pleasant stay!

We held our wedding at the Mercure (bankfield) Bradford, right from the start we were met by Dean the wedding co-ordernator, a more helpful and pleasant man you could not wish to meet, using the experience of his own wedding he helped us to plan ours and took a lot of the pain out of the wedding, we chose this hotel because getting married in march we know the weather is not always at it's best, this hotel has nice gardens also a good entrance hall for photo's if the weather is not at it's best,
On arrival at the hotel I being the groom was booked in for two night's, I had a nice clean room for the first night, then for the wedding day staff at the hotel moved mine and my new wife's luggage to the bridle suite, the bridle suite had a four poster bed and bathroom, very nice.
On the wedding day all was set up for us and all went as planed, the staff were very helpful, nothing seemed to much bother to them, the food was very good and as we had our menu in a slightly different way (each course had two choices and you swapped with other people on your table if you didn't like your meal), on our evening buffet the food was spot on, there was plenty of it and nobody went home hungry,
At breakfast the next day we said goodbye to the wedding guest that had stayed overnight and although we spent 2 hours moving tables and having numerous cup's of tea nothing was a bother.
If I have to have a bit of a moan the price of drinks in the bar is a bit steep.
We would like to thank Dean and ALL his staff for making our wedding very special
Thank you all
