We have visited this hotel on three ocassions now to attend a 'wine tasting' evening, which basically consists of several courses of excellent food (usually themed) accompanied by beautiful wines that complement the area the food is from (French, Spanish etc). A representative from the wine distributer is also present to provide an explanation of why he has chosen the wine to accompany any particular course.

The staff are very friendly and provide excellent service throughout what can only be described as a wonderful event. A must for all food and wine lovers.....

Having eaten at the Five Rise Hotel restaurant several times before, our expectations for Valentine’s evening were high and we were certainly not disappointed.
As usual the food was excellent. My wife commented that the steak was perfectly cooked and the best she had eaten in a long time. The family who own and run the Five Rise were as usual, friendly and efficient.
Great food, excellent wine and looking forward to our next visit on 28 February for the Italian Gourmet Wine evening.

The restaurant is a wonderful small place, personal and restful, with good views over the ancient monument and grade 1 listed building of Bingley Five Rise locks on the Leeds Liverpool Canal. The menu offers a wide variety of delightful dishes to amuse all taste buds, accompanied by efficient but not intrusive service ( just as I like it).. There is good wheelchair access if you discuss it when booking

The restaurant is in the hotel of the same name in a leafy suburb of Bingley. It is an attractive stone built Victorian mill owner’s house which the current owners have decorated and updated excellently. There is a pleasant and comfortable bar adjoining the dining room with draft lager, local beers by the bottle and a good wine list (by the bottle and by the glass). We chose from the lower end of the price range and were very satisfied with our choices (with guidance from the owner)
I don’t see any point in going to great detail about the quality of the food, you must make that decision, except to say it was well up to its’ AA Rosette rating. The menu can be seen on the hotel website and is supplemented by specials on the night. I must however mention the Duck Shepherd’s pie with a sweet potato topping and braised red cabbage. Not a combination I have come across before but the member of our party who chose it said it was delicious and the red cabbage was ‘to die for’. Prices were reasonable with a very competitive ‘Early Bird’ option.
Do give it a try, the food is great, well presented and not over priced. The Dining Room is very tastefully decorated with crisp linen and high backed black leather chairs. The owners are very welcoming and helpful.
I only wish they were located in Manchester – we would be regulars.
Check out their website and make a visit, you won’t regret it.

Not the world's largest eatery but with a big welcoming heart, attentive service and good choices of wonderfully well produced food A good place for celebrations or just eating out. very wheel chair accessible, which is important to me, car park gets crowded at times. if you do not know Bingley just look for the signs to Bingley Five Rise Locks, be patient as it is not on a major road.
