“Best place to unwind and relax”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2012

This resort is located 20 kms away from Cherrapunjee village. The drive is long but worth reaching here.
This is family run business and Mr Rayen and his wife take personal care to make you feel comfortable.
They have added a new Annexe to the existing resort building, which is much better. All the rooms in the old building, open in the dining hall. So,one has to pass through the dining area to reach their rooms and sometimes, you feel the lack of privacy. But,most of the travelers become like a family very soon. The place is such.
In the evening ,they organized a cultural program ,conducted by local youths, charging a token sum of Rs 100.00 per room.
Enjoy the evening with snacks,tea/coffee and the songs rendered by the young boys.
Do not miss to visit the natural root bridge , which is not found anywhere else in the world, to the best of my knowledge.
If you are fond of tracking, the opportunities are endless.
My suggestion is that give at least two nights stay, to enjoy the place properly.
They serve the food as per order and our choice, subject of course the availability of ingredients. The cooking is done by local Khasi girls and you get the taste of home cooking and purity.

It is a Resort located in a place where you can enjoy nature in every way. Untouched by the cruelty of modern civilization, surroundings are absolutely natural, tiny water falls, clouds in the Hills, fog, trekking, natural root bridges, water rafting and what not.

Room Tip: Rooms 1 to 3 are having good view and quite good in the original building.

It was my trip with my family last month with the commence of monsoon this year.Awonderful location indeed and this makes it aright place to experience the feel of meghalaya.A sip of hot coffee, pakora &rains on window pane. But my rating overall says its indeed a place to stay as you have no options to stay back in any other property there, but its always suggested that dont go for aoption of aroom in exceutive block recently devoloped as it does not get you the value for the money you paid for,no view,no room service, less spacious rooms but only rooms with expensive branded furniture &toilet with branded sanitary fittings filled with variety of flying insects. You can only experience the service of the teamof Mr.Ryan the local encyclopedia if you stay back in their standard rooms in old block .Life after dusk is idle as either you stay back in rooms without a Television or pay @100 for being apart of evening activity arranged by collected money of guests.Anyhow to far extend they have contributed to the ecomonical structure devolopment of such aremote place apart from making their own in all aspects.

Room Tip: dont go for rooms in executive block as no intercom,no roomservice,no view, less spacious.

Recently on a trip to NE India, we visited this beautiful place on earth, Cherrapunjee, a dream destination of mine, since years, when I had first read about it in my Geography classes in the school days. I must say, that if one is planning a trip to NE, this place and this resort should should be on one’s itinerary. The awesome landscapes with very charming and atmospheric location of the resort coupled with an excellent and above all pars, hospitality of the extra courteous staff makes it a place to not to be missed. Kudos to Mr. Rayen for running and maintaining such a marvelous stuff at such a remote location with full vigor and enthusiasm. Our’s experience to resort was undoubtedly the best one in our whole trip to North East

This is one property that is nestled in the midst of nature with Bangladesh flood plains of one side and Khasi hills on the other. The uniqueness of Cherra .. being the location to attract the maximum rainfall is set off best by this resort, its unobstructive staff, quiet curtesy, smiling faces and ready help with anything from car rental, to routes for trekking, to things to do, to books for kids et all. During our stay here we were lucky to experince, the typical Cherra rainfall .. with clouds that build up in the east and spreads to the west, the sparkling post rain sunshine, clous nestling on hill tops like angels, the norwestors build up in the west and raging night storm with the resort in the middle, dense mist and sunshine that plays pick a boo, trekking to root bridge (an unique natural phenomenon of roots of trees joining to form a foot bridge), trek through forests, beautiful springs, competent trekking guides, self supportive village community and beautiful people. All in all this is one place that is a must if you love to travel and for your travel to be just perfect no better location in Cherrapunji that Cherra Resort.

Room Tip: Book any one of the rooms with the view of the Flood plains and the Khasi hills even if it costs a l...

I thought of several things to write for the title and took 5 minutes to think about and again and again i was coming to only one word AWSOME!!... so then i decided.. what the heavens.. let me just write the same.

Ok talking about the resort. It is a family run place and they consider everyone who turns up there as family. Never once did we feel we were in some resort or hotel. we thought we had a house in cherrapunji.. and believe me what a house that is. I have already sent a mail to Mr Rayen/Ms Rayen appreciating them for thier thought and courage to come up with something so sweet. so adorable in the middle of a place where everything looks stunning.

Please go ahead and book your trip to northeast kepping chera resort in mind as it is one of the most breathtaking experiance you will ever have. There are a lot of treks which Mr Rayen will help you with but if you have the gumption and the grit to really go for an amazing trek go for the Double Decker root bridge trek.. Mind you be prepared for exhaution but when you reach there it will be worth it. only thing needed in rainy season will be a raincoat and a good pair of shoes. rest let the guide handle. About the guide.. see if you can get BATMAN ( yeah believe it or not thats his name ). he is fantastic.

If you want to just laze around also this place is ideal.. just see on your left you will see the plains of bangladesh and on the right you will see the waterfall doted hills.. himm and in the front abyss.. well just go there and figure out .. why am i spoiling the fun by telling you everything.

ENJOY..

Room Tip: take the delux room if it is available.

We had a lovely holiday at Cherra Resort. It is the ideal place to unwind with homely ambience, good food and great people. If you are the adventurous sort, Mr. Rayen can suggest you innumerable activities in and around Sohra like trekking, angling, swimming in natural streams, etc. If you simply want to laze around and calm your strained nerves, just hang around in Cherra Resort itself, chat with the friendly staff and fellow guests, or take a leisurely stroll around the resort. The choice is yours. Mr. Rayen personally sees to it that his guests have a good time, and his love for the flora, fauna, and the people of the region clearly shows. It is a delight to speak to him.
