“Tough trek but worth it”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2012

We had a two hour descent from one hill to get to it and approximately 4 - 5 hr ascent up another where pickup cars awaited us. The root bridge concept and this one because of its double Decker two level nature is spectacular. When we were ascending from nongriat village where the bridge is located, hundred meters away from the trail we found a blue water pool about 2 degrees centigrade which you can take a refreshing dip in in the right conditions : superb. Uphill trek tests endurance : its stone steps at what seemed like sixty degree gradient for 4 to 5 hours relentlessly.
The ramen noodles at the end of it never tasted better

“Nature's wonder that one must visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 22, 2012

There is not just one root bridge, but, many on Riwai river. Couple of days would be needed to see all of them. Some of them are not very famous, but, are amazing.

“Great trekking”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 14, 2012

We had a great time trekking down to the "double decker living root bridge" at Cherrapunji, Meghalaya, India. 3500 steps down, and the same back up...so build up your stamina before you go. But the views make every step worthwhile.

Arrange for a good guide at the Cherra Holiday Resort.
Get good hiking gear, esp good shoes and couple of extra pairs of socks.
Rainiest place in the world, so carry raincoats or umbrellas always. Though, Oct to Feb its usually rain free.
Take Painkillers on returning if you are not used to long treks.
You may buy great honey from the locals there, pick some if you're interested.

Have fun.

“living wonder”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2012

Worth the trip to cherrapunjee and the big trek into the forest to see this fascinating creation between man and nature.

The trek is a cardio workout for sure, but the reward at the end is worth a lifetime of memories.
