“Not worth the money”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2014

Our experience at this hotel was disappointing. The rooms are very much from the 1970s and do not appear to have been upgraded since then. The air conditioning did not work in the first room we were given and the room smelled moldy. When we asked to move to another room, the air conditioning was not much better. The furnishings are functional but that's about it. The service was mediocre; the food was mediocre; and the prices were high. On the whole, given how expensive it is to stay at Portobello Resort & Safari, I would say it is not worth the money. The only thing nice about our stay was the beautiful location.

Amazing resort with attractions to all ages and all moods.
A "can't lose" attractions is the Safari where you can see several animals in their natural habitat.
There are a very good entertainment area for kids with monitors that you can leave your children and have fun in the delicious restaurants, beach or pools.

Room Tip: There are rooms in the ground floor that are inside the beach!!

we were a party of almost 100,half of them in a special 40 year-graduation-anniversary from a medical school.seniors but young at heart. It was a very nice,funny,3 days round.we didn't want to worry about planning/where to go/what to eat...and the staff in charge took care of us.the hotel is very big but clean&cosy(hard to believe).
one can go with the family,no matter the ages. The classic resort facilities plus a safari tour with real wild animals.all of this surrounded by a tropical forest on one side and the green sea on the other.say no more.

Portobello resort and Safari one of the most popular resort of Mangaratiba, Brazil. It provides aquatic sports services and adult-children pools. After that you can play many of sports there like soccer, tennis, and volleyball. They provides the best facilities to guests such as fitness center, swimming pool, internet access, and much more. I am really impressed from this Portobello resort and will definitely visit again.

The trip will take about one hour and fifteen minutes. The hotel has been improved since its opening and today offers a large array of options, beside a "private" beach. I call it "private" because by the Brazilian constitution no beach can be called so...There are boats to rent and the hotel is very clean and comfortable. A nice swimming pool and sports area are also available. Do run from the high season weeks as carnival, easter, july (school vacations) and new years eve. The price of "packages" can be sky high. But any other "low" season it is the place to pick.

Room Tip: First floor beach rooms.

It seems to be a family destination favorite: kids can get entertained while their parents rest; while for couples it is not so wonderful. As a resort, you are kind of stuck in it. If the weather is good, you can spend the day on the beach, otherwise, despite of the different activities, you'll soon get bored.

There is a safe in the room, so, if you use it, theft shall not be a problem, as mentioned in another post.

All rooms have views to the sea, with balconies. The service at the beach is really slow and the prices for all extras are, in general, expensive.

Dear Mr(s),

I am the new commercial & Mkt manager of the resort, and reviewing our ratings on trip adivisor could not locate any response on our part. I apologize for this.

Thank you for your rating with positive comments and points to improve. Throughout these years, we have had several actions for infrastructure improvements and services.

We hope that I can return to Portobello in the near future and be able to re-evaluate our resort.

Best regards,

Ricardo Luiz Peixoto
