spent 2 days at Deo bagh (part of the Neemrama nonhotel chain)
Quiet respite with spacious rooms all facing a yet to be completed central bagh.
Refurbished pavillions that were at one time stables/ cenotaphs and temples.
great service and good food. Not a typical hotel at all but one where you actually live within the monument. Try It!

Room Tip: all seemed to just vary in size but individual pavillions with a great front verandah over looking t...

Excellent hotel from outside and by looks and surroundings its well maintained and definitely takes you back in time.

Pros -
Excellent surroundings and rooms.
arrangement to sit in verandah/balcony outside each room is excellent and looks very nice in evening and night.
Decent interiors of room.
Very polite and friendly staff

Cons -
A deep look at bath tells you that things were done in a hurry to make hotel ready for guests - look at the windows/doors and you can see chips of wood etc..even paint is not smooth and clean.
We stayed at jankoji - our bath shower outlet drain was choked/slow - solution for which was to take out drain outlet cover so that water can flow easily.
We had to wait for hot water - after one person has taken bath as it needed sometime
Slow service - one evening we ordered for milk for our kid and staff forgot to convey this to kitchen. After waiting for sometime, we ourselves checked with kitchen and then it was delivered in no time.
breakfast menu - is very limited in options and i personally didnt liked it much. Considering breakfast menu and quality we didn't had dinner as it was again bufffet - no ala carte facility for dinner.

This is certainly one of the best retreats of my trip. There are three rooms to pavilions located around a manicured lawn, itself central to a secluded park. Walk about private temples and stone alleyways. There is so much to discover.
Service is discreet. The place is so quiet.
My room was pleasant and well appointed with its own courtyard and french windows opening on the lawn. A real treat.

This place is great!
17th century Haveli with beautifully restored water terrace and two amazing Hindu temples full of bats just for yourself! Oh, I forgot peacocks wondering freely on the grounds. No TV, so you really feel like in a time machine. The restaurant is very good, especially considering that they cook a small buffet dinner for a very limited quantity of guests.

I must appreciate the work that has gone into making this 17th century property a fabulous hotel. Each of the rooms (double, triple) have been furnished tastefully with warm fabrics and all the amenities that a guest would expect from a good hotel.

As with other properties run by Neemrana, this one is charming with family temples, the barduari and chhatris within the 95 acres property. The mornings are serene in the late winter and so are the evenings. I also visited the Shiva and Hanuman temples for the Jadhav family when the priest was performing morning prayers. At 6 am in the morning it felt divine.

The food, however, may be defined as "bland" by many Indian guests. For us this was not a problem as we prefer such.

The staff, Gaurav, Suleman and Anil took good care of us.

We stayed for one night at the Aruna Vilas (one double and one single bed) and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good as they open out to the Naubagh gardens within the premises.

A calm and quiet place, recently created to give a look of old habitat. It has two temples and some other structure of old era. The rooms from inside are modern. The rooms do not have television and internet, which is little dampening for business traveller. The food quality was good but had limited varieties to choose from buffet. The staff was courteous and helping. Very good place for relax with family and friends. Has lot of green space and can have morning stroll with peacocks, parrots and birds in your company. It is little away from the city.

Room Tip: All room are almost same. We stayed in Jai Vilas

A green, spacious and peaceful haven yet almost in the city. The individual lodges are both elegant and comfortably equipped. The staff are extremely courteous and service is excellent. If visiting Gwalior again, I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Awaken history in a Char-bagh where Mughal emperors once camped ! History has it that in the late 1500 AD important Mughals camped in this “char bagh” with a stunning chhattis-dari (36-pillared pavilion) at its heart. Its underground chamber, surrounded by water during the summer provided a cool resting place for the women. Later, as the conquering Maratha army marched towards Delhi, the Jadhavs took possession of this natural water catchment area. Sardar Deorao Bhausaheb Jadhav and his son Sardar Krishnarao Deorao Jadhav used this 'bagh' as a summer house with the ladies’ section in Deo Bagh and the mens’ section in Jai Vihar, the family's current home. The garden complex houses the most exquisite family temples, a ‘hathi khana’ for elephants, horse stables and cenotaphs. Important Gwalior State meetings, especially against the British – when the valiant Rani of Jhansi fought from the fort rampart close by, were held here during that time. After India’s independence, this has been the home of Sardar Deorao Krishnarao Jadhav, his son Sardar Dhananjayrao Deorao Jadhav and his wife the Ranisaheba, since 1954 when they left their ancestral Lakshmi Vilas Rajwada. ... more   less
