“A very interesting fort”
Reviewed February 7, 2013

Well if you are in Gwalior must visit the fort, but will not advice you to go visit Gwalior for the fort.
The fort is large and has 2 section with two separate entry ticket. Don't understand the reason for it. It lacks maintenance and you need to hire a guide if you want to listen to all the stories ( that may not relate to history). There are no aids that lets you know what building is what excepting one at the entrance that gives a brief description of the huge fort.
There is also a Museum with historical artifacts mainly found at Morena. It also has a ticket and you cannot take pictures here.

“Exciting stories about the past”
Reviewed February 6, 2013

Well preserved fort with many stories. Get a guide and bring a flashlight to get around within the fort.

If it is cold, skip the light show at night. Read about the fort instead. It is waaay too cold at night.

“The only reason to visit Gwalior”
Reviewed February 5, 2013

We spent a very pleasant afternoon wandering around the fort. The fort is interesting - but it's not the best or most spectacular so don't make a special trip or a long detour. The best thing was the peace and quiet whilst walking around at the top. Such a welcome contrast to the noise & filth in the area around the train station.

Don't miss a visit to the Sikh Temple - this was our highlight. The temple attendant was incredibly welcoming and wanted to explain all about the Sikh religion and to show us the temple complex. He also gave us tea in the temple canteen. Take a head covering, although they will lend you a scarf if you don't have one.

“This is the best Fort in India”
Reviewed January 27, 2013

This Fort off the beaten tourist path is the best Fort in India. The walls are well perserved and still have some their original color (not something we saw elsewhere). It gives you a better sense of the real grandier of these Forts in their day. I would recommend a trip to Gwalior Fort over going to Varanasi any day if you have limited time in India.

“LovelyArchitecture”

This is a beautiful fort with gorgeous ceramics & carvings on the walls & buildings. I was surprised at just how much there was to see around this fort. Worth seeing if in Gwalior or on the way to Agra.
