You have to remember the price of this place before you judge, we paid around 1000 Rs a night (March 2013). This was an overnight stay on the way from Delhi to Varanasi, and suited us just fine.
The electrics were ... interesting. The first room we were shown had no back on the plug for the A/C. When we asked if the A/C worked we were assured it did, but we cared too much for the life of the guy that we didn't ask him to plug it in. The second room didn't actually have a shower, there was just a hole in the wall where it should have been. The third room had a shower that worked, and an A/C with a plug, so we accepted.
Still there were bare wires sticking out of the walls. The room itself was clean enough, but the bathroom floor was pretty muddy. The vent to the bathroom should have been a louvered area to the corridor, but all the louvers were missing, so you just had a big hole looking over your neighbours, easily big enough to crawl through. Keep the bathroom door locked at night!
The room looked straight over the main road, and there was noisy traffic except between about 11pm and 5am. Not good if you're a light sleeper.
Having said all this, the staff were almost overly attentive. We had room service, and the food was good. The hotel needs love and attention, but is a cheap place to stay for a night on a journey.
