“Fantastic location”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2011

Fabulous location, next to the beautiful beach which is fig tree bay. Hotel is basic ,very small balcony, bedding and towels of poor quality. Air conditioning broke down on second night, but couldnt fault the service, was repaired first thing the next morning as i reported it late at night. The staff and maids were attentive and helpful. The pool i couldnt fault , was lovely and could always get a bed.

The huge let down was the food. we were half board and very disappointed, breakfast not bad but the same every day. The evening meals were mostly inedible, and the children refused to eat most evenings.

Also you are not allowed to take any of your own food or drink around the pool area not even water, you have to use their pool bar to buy anything which was really expensive.

you are 2 minute walk from the main strip which has allsorts of supermarkets, gift shops , pubs and restaurants. But be sure to always check your bill, we were wrongly billed 3 times in 3 different places, and so were other families.
It is not a cheap place, especially for soft drinks.

bus stop 5 mins away and buses are every 20 mins so a great service.
we took a boat trip one day, booked at a trip place on the main road, would highly recommend. not book through rep as too expensive.
weather was lovely although very hot so be warned!

Room Tip: make sure you ask for a pool or sea view, my parents had a lovely view, i was looking at waste groun...

We have just returned from a 10 day stay at Chrystalla Hotel & I found everything clean & tidy. The staff were very helpful & friendly. We hired a fridge for 2.50 Euros a day & safe deposit box for 1.50 Euros a day. The breakfast was vey good & kept you going all day. The evening meal was ok, sometimes food not very hot. We had a sea view which is worth it. Can't wait to return to the Chrystalla.

For the price the Chrystalla Hotel was superb. It was in an excellent location near to the beach as well as the main area where all the bars and restaurants are to be found.

The hotel is not luxurious but spotlessly clean and the bedrooms are simply decorated but comfortable. I especially liked the beds and pillows which were quite hard but provided me with the best sleep I've had in ages. Some of the drawers in my room needed attention but as I didn't use them it didn't bother me.

A very good breakfast is provided and covers most tastes. I especially enjoyed the fresh orange juice which you squeezed yourself; the only bit of exercise I managed all holiday.

When I arrived my room was not available so I was put into a studio across from the hotel for one night. This was a slight inconvenience as I had to move room again the next day, however the staff were very apologetic and handled the situation well offering me an upgrade to half board as service recovery. It was a nice gesture although I didn't actually take up the offer as I preferred to eat out in the many excellent restaurants nearby.

Lastly I would like to mention the staff who were pleasant as well as helpful helpful at all times.

Room Tip: Try to book a sea facing room if available.

The hotel is located very close to fig tree bay, which is by far the nicest beach in protaras. The beach does get very busy so would recommend getting your sun beds early. We were never asked to pay for our sun beds, although we did see them about.
The hotel is set back off the main road so noise was not a problem, and there are a few good bars and pub that are a short walk down the main road.
The room was lovely, it was cleaned extremely well every day and towels were changed every 2 days, however the beds sheets were not changed and just remade. We did have a leak from the sink in our room which then made the room smell. We told the owner of the hotel and he was very concerned and said he would take a look straight away. However the sink was left leaking and the smell did not go. This although does not in anyway reduced the rating of the hotel as it is fantastic. The food was excellent, lots of choice and variation each night. Breakfast was from 7.00-10.00. The breakfast was the same each morning of a typical english breakfast with fresh orange juice and cereal and toast available. Very well cooked. Dinner was from 7.00-9.00. Dinner was just as nice, lots of choice from the salad bar and familiar foods too if you have fussy children =)
The pool was gorgeous, but sunbeds go quick, we had to go down and put our towels on the beds in the morning after breakfast if we wanted one, not a major inconvience if you do want a day by the pool. There is a pool bar which was very handy.
The hotel also has a computer which is 1 euro for every 10 minutes, it is very handy for keeping in touch and facebook of course =)
I would recommend the red bus tour for a day trip, it was very good for seeing the island and the ghost town. very good quality for money as it was very cheap. Also the water park in aiya napa in a must, the ticket is around 30 euros per adult and the bus to ayia napa is only 1 euro and euros for a day pass to anywhere on the island. there are also numerous bus stops down the main road so there is no excuse =) I would also recommmend the aphrodite boat trip...only 14 euros and it was the best day we had. There is also an aquarium which is 12 euros each...however we had seen everything in 20 minutes and didnt feel i had my money worth. I would not recommend this as personally i think it was a waste of time.
I think you cannot go to cyprus without seeing the island a least a little bit, it is a gorgeous island and there is plenty to see, so dont lay on a sun bed for 2 weeks =)
I would definitley return to the chrystalla hotel in the future.

Room Tip: you can pay for a see view room, we had a view of a supermarket so i would recommend when you book t...

Just got back from a 10 day stay at the chrystalla hotel, we stayed half board and found the food ok although i would say if you're staying more than a week it can get boring (chips, salad and rice everyday and the breakfasts were the same everyday too), there are lots of restaurants to eat at on the strip which we would have liked to have tried. The hotel was very clean as was the rest of the resort and the people and staff friendly. The beach and strip are a short walk a way and there are regular buses if you want to travel a bit futher, i would recommend this hotel if you just want a place to sleep and a pool to lounge by that is close to everything you need for a great holiday!

Room Tip: double beds seem to be on the 1st floor but the views are better higher up and at the front of the h...

we have just came back from a 2wk stay at this hotel, and it was lovely, small and friendly was exactly what it was, the location was to die for, the rooms were clean and tidy, maids came and cleaned every day if you wanted, air conditioning was a saviour as it was so hot outside. the hotel was clean, the food had a lot of variety, but the desserts werent that good, no ice-cream,the towels in the room were abit hard, but aint that the case everywhere you go? all in all a good hotel and i would recommend staying there for very good value for money, peace and quiet and good friendly staff.

Room Tip: sea view is a must

As long as you enjoy relaxed stays in a very informal environment then this is the place for you. Don't stay here if you expect 'extreme hotel and dining etiquette' - If that's your thing it's not the place for you. The staff are fantastic and the place is very clean in all the right places. the food is very adequate and I was always happy with what was on offer. I can honestly say that I have never been happier staying at a hotel and I have stayed at some very expensive ones. The location is outstanding 2 mins from a great beach or pleasent stip to walk along in the evening. Tip - Take a long walk along the front via the new promenade, (or take a bus and walk back about 2 miles). We used it a lot in the evenings and there are some great little places to stop off along the way - very romantic. If and when we go back to Protaras we will stay here again.

Room Tip: Smallish rooms with very small balconies
