Sunrise Pearl Hotel & Spa

Just got back after a fantastic week at the Sunshine Pearl Hotel and Spa Resort. A wonderful hotel in a good location. We were upgraded from the sister Sunshine Beach Hotel. Large room with king size bed and top drawer furnishings. The bathroom was fitted out high spec with a rain shower over the bath ( as well as your conventional shower head) and his and hers basins. The soaps were replaced on a daily basis and robes and slippers for the spa were provided. Rooms were made up daily with numerous bedding changes during our 6 night stay and complimentary bottled provided. The were also 'turned down' while we were out in the evening and chocolate left on the pillows for our return.
If you require a hotel where you require to be treated a little more special then this will be the place for you.

Stayed here for 10 nights after reading countless reviews about this place, anyway the hotel is in a very good prime location right on the beach and slap bang on the main high street in protaras which was ideal for us with the little one. But there are a little things that we both found that were poor with this hotel, first being it was not a child freindly hotel at all and second there is no evening shows nothing and the hotel felt a bit bland at times. Our sea view room which faced the adult pool was an OK size but the air con in the room was far from cold which was a bit of a pain and the maids came every 2nd day if we was lucky even though we had the sign up on the buzzer for it to be done oh and of the pool attendant guys forgot his name was always very very rude. If we went back to protaras again we would either go to the sunrise beach hotel next door to this one or Grecian Park Hotel which both seemed a lot nicer places to be.....On a side note this is still a good hotel but as for 5 star NEVER it just about gets a 4 star at best from us, but overall for the money we spent i wish we booked elseware as it's way over rated....But again this just our opinion which not everyone will agree with but hay ho.....

Room Tip: If you have a sea view room ask for a higher floor otherwise you have everyone from the pool area...

We stayed for a week in the Sunrise Pearl in early Sept. 2012. We were upgraded to a Junior Suite which was lovely. We had a good seaview. The hotel was very modern, and comfortable, the staff were friendly and very polite. The breakfast was a buffet with wide choice of food. The waiters were fast and efficient. It was a well managed hotel and it could be easily seen from the general behaviour of the staff. The hotel had 4 swimming pools with build in juccuzi in some. The pool bar staff were attentive and offered fruit at different times of the day. We were allocated a sunbed and umbrella for the week so we did not have to rush early in the morning to "book" a sunbed! We can't wait to go back next year.

Our booking in September 2012 was for the Sunrise Beach Hotel to attend, along with 56 others, our daughters wedding which was taking place in the Sunrise Beach. We were upgraded to the Sunrise Pearl. We were given a junior suite - not much of a view but the room was lovely, with a living room area which had a 40" TV showing English channels and comfortable settees and a queen size bed that was the most comfortable bed we've slept in on our travels over the years - again a 25" TV to watch in bed. The bathroom had a "rain" shower in the bath and a divider between bath and toilet for privacy if needed. Obviously very new and modern but well thought out in its design. The location was brilliant - right on the beach and in the centre of protaras. The swimming pools were lovely and you could walk through to access and use the facilities in the Sunrise Beach, or vice versa. The hotel was one of the nicest and most comfortable we've stayed in on our travels in Hawaii, Singapore! Australia , New Zealand and various cities across the USA, but what makes this hotel stand head and shoulders above the rest is its staff, who go the extra mile to make sure your stay is happy, stress free and as comfortable as it could possibly be. Always ready with a smile and a cheery "hello" they felt like friends coming to our room to change the towels or to turn our bed down and leave us a chocolate on the pillows each night. The reception staff were brilliant and we have to mention Anastasia who was always on hand with her helpful manner and smile - whether it be at the start or at the end of her shift. The sunrise beach and sunrise pearl staff leave the staff at other large chain hotels in Protaras miles behind and are the reason why this hotel will be our first choice when we return. Thann you to all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable

Overall impression is quite favorable, but still there is a room for improvement.

Location is perfect - in relation to the sea as well as in relation to bars and restaurants outside.

We took junior suite sharing pool for two weeks in late Sep-Oct 2012 (writing from the hotel right now). If you prefer sea view, this type of room is not what you're seeking as sharing pool rooms are located on the 1st floor. Nevertheless we liked the room, especially decked area near the pool which is lovely to sit at night after dinner.

Actually we used shared pool only twice or so during our stay as the water in it was cooler than in the sea (because our pool was in the sun only during morning hours, during the rest hours it was shaded). About the room itself - it was quite nice, but it is obvious that building works were performed in a rush and imho not very professionally - we noticed that a small part of the ceiling was going to fall soon due to poor quality of works. A sliding door between toilet and bathroom did not seem very comfortable - no privacy and poor noise isolation, i would prefer two different rooms. The bed is perfect as well as the pillows - very comfortable.

Cuisine. The breakfast in Waterfall restaurant is very good (though it is often hard to receive your coffee - often you have to specifically find a waiter and ask for it). But as for the dinner there, I am not sure that it is a 5 star standard - the choice of dishes is nearly the same every night, there were no "thematic" dinners. This may be ok, if your stay is no longer than 5 days, but when it is 14... Also a funny peculiarity - if you order tea at dinner they bring you Pickwick, which is (from my point of view) is far from being deluxe brand of tea to be served in 5 star hotel. Also I guess that it is presumed that if you want fish you should go to separate Fishbone restaurant, but I would expect more variety of fish at dinners at main restaurant. P.S. Main restaurant is called Waterfall, but the waterfall itself is not working yet - I guess it will be fixed only next year.

Staff. The majority of staff are very pleasant and acting professionally, but there are some waiters never smiling. Someone already wrote about housekeeping staff ignoring "do not disturb" - that is true. But still overall impression is very positive.

Definitely we are not disappointed that we chose this hotel, it is very nice, the majority of the staff are very pleasant as well, but as for me, the diversity of the dishes at dinners should be improved. We would recommend this hotel to our friends.

Room Tip: We took junior suite sharing pool. If you prefer sea view, this type of room is not what you're...

Last year we stayed in the Sunrise Beach and saw the Sunrise Pearl being built. We decided to book for September 2012 and as always the weather in eastern Cyprus was magnificent. Our 4th floor room was sea facing and had fantastic views of the hotel grounds, beachfront and water activities. The hotel has some of the best features ever viz. most comfortable huge double bed and pillows, modern powerful overhead shower, twin sinks set in stylish bathroom, plus lots of amenities as specified in the brochure. The adult pool had powerful jacuzzis on timers and parasol/sunbed positions are booked via the pool attendant. The Waterfall restaurant has a scenic terrace for breakfast and the buffet evening meal and there was a huge selection of choices to satisfy every taste. There is also the option of eating out at the Kyyklos restaurant where a tradtional Greek menu of excellent quality was served. All the staff at the hotel are polite and friendly from Reception, Restaurants and all the service sectors.

As a new hotel there are a few things that need to be addressed and the management have assured us that they will be tackling these over the winter break. We will be going back next year and can't wait.

Room Tip: If you can afford the extra book a sea view room

This was a surprise upgrade by the management of the Sunrise Beach for the last two nights of a one week stay. Not sure why, but suspect that they wanted to make the newer Pearl busier than it was, due to it’s relatively newness. We spent two nights at the end of a week, at the end of Sept 2012 and were moved from the next door Sunrise Beach. Cases were quickly transported by a porter and we were taken to a ‘junior suite with a sea view’. This really was a suite, and featured a bedroom with a kingsize bed and lcd tv, sitting room , which had another, larger lcd tv, which led onto the balcony, as well as an en-suite bathroom, with an en-en-suite toilet!
As a foreign holiday hotel, this was a room beyond what we would have ever expected at a seaside resort and would not have seemed out of place in a big city centre. There was certainly a style to this hotel, and it is best described as ‘minimalist’. The reception is in beige and tan, as well are the colour co-ordinated staff, but you don’t see anything like pens, leaflets etc littering the reception desk, nor ugly holiday noticeboards. (the info is there, but just not in plain sight). Glass elevators, more akin to expensive head office buildings whisk you silently to your floors.
Like it’s sister hotel, breakfast is a multi cultural, with full English, Cypriat, and continental options and being the end of the season, meant that it could be taken on the sun drenched open terrace.
Despite only being open for a few months, unfortunately, the hotel was already showing signs of wear and tear, with chipped stairs in the stairwell and cracks in the walls.
The whole PEARL experience is awe inspiring with the staff really being so helpful in all aspects. We can’t comment on the restaurant as we had a B+B option and specifically decided to ‘eat Greek’ for the week, and managed to find enough local eateries to do just that.
Summing up, everything was great and although probably won’t go back next year (as there’s still a lot of travelling to be done first) if we returned to Protaras, we would actually return to the older, sister hotel, the Sunrise Beach, because it felt smaller (although being physically larger) and friendlier and better value for money.
