“Great hotel and helpful staff”
Reviewed September 22, 2011

I recently returned to this great hotel and again found it excellent, which is why so many people go back year after year. Staff can not do enough for you, from Reception through to Porters and Bar staff. Restaurant staff are equally attentive; the Maitre D' Neo is always welcoming, and even arranged a cake with a firework for my mother on her birthday. A particular chef, Ahjit, found out I was vegetarian on our first visit and at every evening meal he tells me what I can and can't eat from the buffet, even offering to make me something special. They certainly make you feel like a very valued customer. I hope to be able to return soon. Linda

A bit belated but had to write about our 2nd trip to this hotel. Yet again unable to fault either the hotel or its staff. The guys at the pool bar are always so friendly, the guys in the reef bar are great. Andy is always entertaining and my son loved playing table tennis and pool with him. Leila (not sure if spelt right so forgive me) was so good with the kids, they all loved her.
The staff on reception always do their best to please. Its the little touches that are great, cold face towels by the pool, bringing around a tray of cold melon in the afternoon when its baking hot, having allocated sunbeds for the duration of your stay.... Its great to have a hotel that has high standards but without being snooty. The atmosphere is very relaxed. Thanks to all the staff who made our stay so enjoyable. So much so we have just booked to go back in August 2012!!!!! Look forward to seeing everyone again next year. Sid, Sarah and Nicholas Radia

Without exception the staff at his hotel are outstanding, which always means great leadership.
Standards are very high in all areas, and it's clear that many of the staff are long-serving - also a good sign.

We upgraded to a Corner sea-view suite, with balconies on two sides - this was fantastic, and the floor to ceiling window overlooking the ocean made it even better.

Amenities are very high, nearly five-star, with a couple of places with room for improvement - the gym for example is OK, but was too hot, and lacked towels and a water fountain.
The in-room safe (chargeable) was installed by a giraffe for use by giraffes; and the WiFi was wobbly - all easily overcome.

The pools are terrific and beautifully clean - sun loungers are allocated on arrival, and you keep the same spot for your whole stay (or ask for a move if you're not happy).

Be aware that the loungers are fairly tightly packed in, especially in the gardens - some of the garden has recently been pinched for the development of a sister 5-star hotel next door, which is under construction (with almost no noise intrusion from the building site by the way).

Food and bev - we took B&B and were glad because of the huge choice of restaurants in the main street, and we did hear that the half-board buffet dinner was OK, but people tended to eat very early, so we did not try it (see later for restaurants in the village).

Breakfast was fine (buffet), not 5-star, and a bit congested at peak times, but fine; lunches were excellent, with a wide range of snacks and meals, under the cooling fans, just to give a bit of respite from the heat.

Beach is pretty tightly-packed too, but actually not noisy, and not intrusive in any way, and the sea is just beautiful, like a warm bath from dawn to dusk.

The nearby watersports (to your right as you look out from the hotel to the beach) are truly world-class. As a skier, I can confidently say this is the most professional place I have ever experienced, with seriously good management and safety, fantastic equipment, boats and staff, and for the record, wonderful ski-ing waters.

Restaurants in Protaras - we recommend Andama very highly - excellent food, service and management; also Tower House - again good food and very nice genuine people.
The hotel is affiliated with Kyklos Tavern - average actually, lots of food and excellent value, but felt more canteen-like and very close to the main street pavement; we also tried Olympus and would not recommend it.

Other tips - if you get the chance to hire a car and tour, we recommend the trip to Famagusta on the Turkish side, and then on to the 'Panhandle' peninsula in the north east where the Golden Sands Beach is stunning - but that's a good couple of hours' drive including messing around at the border to get into the Turkish side. Also Nicosia is fascinating, and if you get there, it's well worth driving over the border to the beautiful port of Kyrenia/Girne.

Final comment - a fantastic climate in Cyprus - we had consistent 33 max/27 min, and not a cloud in sight!

Room Tip: Definitely recommend sea-view; garden-view rooms overlook the driveway and are likley to get more no...

Stayed here for the first 2 weeks of Sept for my wedding through Thomson.
We were greeted with a bunch of roses & lillies, bowl of fresh fruit and bottle of red wine upon arrival!!! We were upgraded to room 404 a corner suite with ocean and pool views - 2 balconies and large panoramic window looking out over the sea! most stunning room ever really cool air con and massive comfy bed!
Following various meetings with Denise the hotels wedding planner and Zoe the Thomson wedding planner we were at ease with everything and were given a bottle of champagne at the wedding for the toast. After we got back to the room we had another bottle of champagne waiting. The next day we had a champagne breakfast, with another bottle!, we had afree parasailing ride and discounted food and drinks at the reef bar. We also had a candle lit dinner for free at the hotel restaurant (buffet) with a love style desert and sparklers - lovely touch! So the wedding went without a hitch we were even allowed to rejig our menu for no extra cost and the holiday got better when reception offered another room upgrade to 504 that has a jicuzzi on the balcony !!!!
Breakfast is a buffet style with anything you can think of available - spoilt for choice and freshly cooked and replaced!!
Around the pool everyday a freezing cold flannel is handed out which is brilliant and a slice of cold melon a lovely touch!!
If you fancy a dip in the sea it's literally a stones throw and the sea is warm and clear.
I only have a few gripes as I'm being honest The prices in the bars at the hotel are reduculously expensive and so is the mini bar in the room - theres no other fridge so its difficult to keep your water cool.
the sister hotel brilliant where my family stayed was half the price for food/drinks with more choice - also we were told our family wasn't allowed to come to the hotel or use facilities here which coming from the sister hotel and being a wedding party (that my parents paid for anyway) they should have been welcome - brilliant apts welcomed my husband and I with open arms! Bit naughty!
The sun bed allocation is only a good thing if you get a bed by the pool otherwise it's just a pain!
The hotel is amazing and for us it was the holiday of a life time because of the price - if you are considering getting married here please don't hesitate I've wAtched about 10 so far and each one is unique and the girls give 100% to each one !!

Lovely aspect - right next to the beach. Lovely pool area and spotlessly clean. Helpful and pleasant staff - I thought this was a smashing hotel.

My wife and I stayed at the Sunrise Beach on the recommendation of friends who have stayed there many times. The location is fantastic, right in the middle of Protaras, with a wonderful pool area and beach front.

We were first time vistors to the hotel, but were made to feel very welcome and relaxed by the attentive staff, especially at mealtimes. The Maitre'd Neo stands out in memory as someone who welcomed us every night and remembered our names.

The hotel facilities were excellent, and we had a thoroughly relaxing time. We will be booking to come back next year as soon as we can!
