We stayed here from 22nd of May 2012-2nd of June 2012.We saw this spectacular looking Hotel just after it had been renovated. We were staying next door at the Constaninas which is also owned by Tsokkos amongst many other Hotels in Protaras and Cyprus.
This Hotel is as spectacular as it looks in the glossy brouchers. It is spottlessly clean and superbly furnished both inside and out.It is situated on the Beach from which you walk through a well kept Garden area with sunbeds and shaded areas including a function area often used for Wedding receptions.Onwards to the Pool area with Bar and open shaded area where lunch is served, then onto a raised patio area with luxury seating and eating area for those who prefer Breakfast otr Evening meal outside.
The entrance to the Hotel is at the side on a road that leads from the "High Street" to the beach and at the front of the Hotel is "Bliss",an Open Air Bar/Nightclub, owned by Tsokkos and therefore very much a part of the same Complex.
Well that all sounds great does it not.Lets start with the food.We were half board.Evening meals were based on theme nights i.e. Greek Night,Italian Night etc.The turnaround seems to be 7 days so if your there for more than a week you can expect a repeat menu. There are varying options at every meal so there will always be at least 1 item you can be sure you will like. The most consistant item for us being the Bread Rolls.None of the Hot food on offer was ever Hot with the exception of Lunch. You can swap your Evening meal for Lunch if you are on half board basis.Whilst the lunch menu was Hot it was because it was cooked to order and you could wait up to 40 minuets for a Burger or Toasted Sandwhich as we did.All said and done the food was genarally quite bland. We ate out in the evening on 5 occasions as although the Menu looked ok we did not want warm ,bland food.Breakfast,by far the best of a bad lot was extensive. The usual fried suspects, warm of coarse, cerials and an abundance of fresh fruit.I have to say the Coffee was excellant and was out of a press button machine.
Anyway enough about the food, lets go back to the Entance to the Hotel on the side street that runs from the "High Street "to the Beach.Directly oppisite on the other side of this street is "The Pearl" or that's what i'm told it is to be called. It's due to open on 2nd of June 2012.Unfortunately it's 3 months behind completion and they are working to complete it from 7am till 11.30 at night. This involves much traffic down the side road day and night with Bulders Vans Cement trucks,Delivery TrucksCranes,Augers,Pile Drivers and everthing else needed for such a large development. The best of all was the Concrete Pump,a vehicle stood on it's own andsupplied by 1 Mixer lorry after another. This vehicle was operated by the "Greek God of Construction".We'll call him "Foghornisus".He obviously thought that all others on site should give him priority and would announce his arrival, often before 7am with up to 5 blasts from the Hooter he must have borrowed from and Intercity Train. He also used it to say good night to his adoring followers, sometimes past 11pm.
I'm suprised that in such hard times for Jobs across the EU as a whole, that the construction workers can be so inconsiderately noisy next to an occupied Hotel when what they are building is the for the same purpose and what their future and present income depend on.
That's 7am- 11pm ish,so if you want torelax on your Balcony or have an afternoon naop away from the Sun or have a lay- in asd your on Holiday then you can forget it for at least 3 months or should i say the rest of this season.
Now, after 11pm.As i said earlier we've been before and stayed next door so we were aware that from 10pm till around 2pm the town is alive with "Music".Many reviews mention The Ghetto Bar which is almost oppisite the Vrissiana as a source of much noise. This was certainly the case the last time we came and it remains the same on this visit but is no longer the main culprit. The Vrissiana is now it's own worst enemy. On 2 occassions the Hotel catered for weddings in the Garden and Patio area at the rear of the Hotel. The Disco started around 9pm and got progressively louder as night went on due to other Music starting in other venues. They have to increase the volume in order not to be drowned out by one another. This is a neccessary tit for tat if you want your audience to hear the music you are playing to them.
"Bliss" hold the ace card hear.Bliss is a pretentious Open Air Bar/Nightclub.I know it's owned and believe it is run by the Tsokkos Group, owners of the Vrissiana. It's grossly overpriced, unenviting due to the Gorilla who prances astride the entrance in his Fake Policeman's uniformon looking aggressive, and genarally empty due to to this and the fact that they play Music for the minority. They staff appear to think it's a really "Cool Joint".It must be bleeding money on a grand scale. It does though due to what seems to be unlimted funding for a White Elephant, have the best Sound System along the Strip.A quality Sound System will allow you to use it at any volume and get quality results, unfortunately Bliss use it to it's maximum to drown out the oposition, sometimes it's own Wedding Party's.
I spoke with another guest who had booked through "Travel Republic".He' received an email from them with advanced information about the Bulding Works next door that they had received from Tsokkos. We booked directly with Tosokkos who did not inform us of any works.
When passing reception and at the time of paying my Bill i asked if Tsokkos would be discounting the Rates due to the extensive intrusion of the Bulding works. They LAUGHED,and said NO.
In general the staff where vey pleasant and as i have already said the whole place was spottless and very well furnIshed, but it's a Holiday and wether you like Clubbing it or not you still need relaxation and sleep time, both of which are in very short supply.I'm so grateful we never had small children with us,it would have been a nightmare.Good luck if you've already booked. If you like loud Music you probably like late nights-good luck with your lay-in.Lastly my apologies for my reference's to "Music".With up to 5 different Disco's and Kareoke Bars competing with each other the words, Fire and Zoo, come to mind.
Finally, reception proudly display their Tripadvisor 4* certificate. Not in our opinion.

We booked the hotel as part of a package holiday part of Thompson. On arrival at the hotel the reception area was clean and tidy and night team pleasant. We had paid for an upgraded sea view room and was lead to believe this would be at the front of the hotel. On discovery what we had paid for was a side sea view room as the front sea view can only be sold by the hotel direct. The room still did have a view of the sea however i would call this a side view or restricted view.
Breakfast was a traditional breakfast buffet and lunch at the beach bar/restaurant offered a variety so i didn't have the same at all over the holiday, the menu was easy to read and was easy for all inclusive guests to understand what is/isn't included. Dinner was varied each night to a themed buffet with ample options. All inclusive drinks were the local spirits and a nice range of cocktails to choose from.
There was entertainment each night which was enjoyable.
The hotel is located just off the main strip, we were towards the sea end of the hotel and some disco noise could be heard. Everything was in walking distance and entertainment at the local bars included tribute acts such as MJ, Blues Brothers, Robbie Williams, Hypnotist and Parrot show.
The beach at the front of the hotel was nice with use of the sun loungers complimentary. Plenty of water based activities and the sea was good for snorkeling. There are plenty of sun loungers around the pool and on the grassed area.
There is building work next to the hotel which our balcony looked directly over, it is soon to finish and we could here builders in the morning however noise was not too bad through the patio doors.

Room Tip: Rooms to the sea end are quieter due to disco/street noise. Front sea view rooms are only bookable by the hotel direct.

Looking forward to returning to this brilliant hotel on 2nd June 2012. We have been to VBH 5 times in the last 6 years and we cant help coming back.
The staff and facilities are first class and there is something very 'chic' about this hotel that makes it very trendy which suits us fine.Particularly the excellent BLISS bar at the front of the hotel.
Everytime we return its nice to be remembered by the staff and they go out of their way to be friendly and helpful.
Last year there was a certain amount on work going on with the construction of a new prominade adlacent to the beach so we are looking forward to seeing the finished job.
See you all again on Sat 7th June
Graham and Stephanie (blondie) Hodge

Room Tip: Try to get a sea or side sea view room as you get a beatiful view of the ocean

After staying at the Vrissiana for several years I see the management are still ignoring the guests requests re the locals taking over the hotel on a saturday and sunday - we have tryed to ignore this intrusion but last year was too much sun beds were being reserved for family and freinds and sometimes they were never used - vrissiana clients had their belongings moved and their areas taken over by the invading locals - prices seemed to have soared so sorry we wont be coming back and cannot recommend this hotel for a relaxing week in the sun
