Initially I wanted to give this review 1 star, but after a week's holiday I warmed slightly to the Brilliant Apartments!

Negatives:
* our balcony/view was of Lidl supermarket and a huge dusty car park, despite requesting a view of the tennis court, which our Thomson contact said they would arrange
* our patio door was broken and therefore didn't shut, we reported this immediately and were assured it would be fixed the following morning. It wasn't fixed so we reported it again and were told the same thing. To this day the door wasn't fixed and no apology or explanation was offered
* upon arriving we requested to be moved due to the above two issues. The receptionist just shrugged and said there was nothing he could do and we'd have to ask again the following day. Not what I'd expect from a 24 hour reception facility!
* they took our passports upon check in, which I wasn't comfortable or sure about. We asked for them back the following morning and were told that they'd be been 'lost'. Cue a lot of worry and waiting around whilst they tried to locate them. Eventually they were found - apparently the unhelpful receptionist from the night before had 'put them in the wrong place'. We also noticed that lots of passports were just lying around on the reception desk, therefore available for anyone to take! This was not a good start to the holiday and left a bitter taste, I must say
* the hotel alarm went off all morning from about 7am on one if the days, why this wasn't addressed I do not know (also Lidl's alarm went off in the middle of the night on two occasions - not the hotels fault I know, but another consequence of being located right opposite it!)
* on checking out there is nowhere to leave your cases, so they just litter the reception area. Personally I'd like them stowed away in a room, somewhere safe
* the pool bar is expensive compared to other places in the resort and the food quality wasn't great
* finally the reception staff were unfriendly throughout. We feel as though our passport incident jaded things, but this was a fault on their part for which we received little in the way of apology or reassurance

Positives:
* the rooms were very clean and modern
* the bed was huge and comfortable
* excellent pool area and a very large pool, which had lots of nooks and crannys (bubbles, fountains etc)
* the staff in the pool bar were amazing and we couldn't fault the service or their disposition; two very hard working chaps!
* the location - the apartments are very close to the main strip and the beach

Overall we had a nice holiday, but we most definitely will not be returning to the Brilliant apartments, which I am sad to say as I had high hopes based on previous reviews

My partner and I spent a week in Protaras 5th June - 12th June 2013 and were given room 313 which is on the first floor just above reception. We arrived at about 2am and the male receptionist was really welcoming and helpful and after a quick glass of water we went straight to sleep and slept like babies that night and the rest of the week (the bed is huge!).

We were really impressed by the quality of the apartment, it felt as though it had been recently updated and everything was white and pristine and a cleaner came in everyday and tidied up and swept the floor, wiped surfaces etc.

We went self catering but had a lovely cooked breakfast on the first morning including coffee for 5Euros each and then also ate at the grill night on the Thursday which was good also, especially for 11Euros.

The pool was great for adults and children, with a lovely pool bar and more friendly staff. The lobby areas was always immaculate also and there were plenty of sunbeds which were really good quality and comfortable.

The apartment really was a home from home and set back off the main strip it was just far enough to be away from the hustle and bustle but only a couple of minutes away from the centre of everything. There is a bus stop just opposite which takes you into Paralimni or Ayia Napa and next door very handily is a lovely Lidl supermarket that has everything you could need if you also go self catering.

We would highly recommend the Brilliant Apartments, for once the name matches the quality!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the pool otherwise you might end up looking at Lidl!

stayed here 9th - 16th june with my wife & daughter.
Arrived very late, 12.40 a.m, the male receptionist was friendly & efficient, had requested high floor, sea view, corner room which is exactly what we were given,so thank you for that ! .
Our room (333 ) was a 1 bedroom apartment, plenty room, clean, & modern, and apart from the guests who like the ground floor apartments, ( which we didn't want ), room 333 was the best located in the whole apartment complex !.we had views of the smaller pool, tennis courts, sea view & jetty where all the tour boats were moored, plus, we got more sun on our balcony than ANY other balcony at the brilliant -sunrise till 11a.m, then 1.30 pm until ( the amazing) sunset ,and we had total privacy sitting on our balcony.
if you have any of the rooms facing the main pool, then no one will have any privacy ,and don't expect an early nights sleep when any acts are on - VERY noisy , so beware !.
The main pool is lovely, nice temperature, plenty of space, & loads of sunbeds surrounding the pool. The other pool, just further down is for the younger kids & toddlers, is great, biggest kids pool we've come across in our travels.( just had a paddle in this one as we never had any kids with us, again, plenty comfortable sunloungers around.
The poolside dining area has plenty of tables & chairs, we only ate there on one occasion (for breakfast) which was excellent- proper bacon/ sausage, plus the usual full English items, great value at 5,50 euros, however if you want to eat there every morning, pre book at the start of your holiday as it will only cost 4 euros pp per day, even better value !.
The brilliant apartments are very clean they cater well for kids, plus they are in an excellent location - 2 mins walk to lidl supermarket, 5 mins walk to main strip of protaras.
Finally the only gripe we have with the brilliant apartments are the shower room(mens at least), as,if, like we were, weren't being picked up until 7,30 p.m. so there are no courtesy rooms available, meaning using the shower- yes only the one ! , but there are NO hooks at all to hang any towels/ clothing whilst showering, which meant leaving my stuff on the floor outside the shower cubicle, which resulted in my change of clothing to travel back home in getting soaked as the shower cubicle had no curtain surrounding it, and the water going straight under the door, so surely it's not too much to ask for a couple of hooks to be stuck on the wall somewhere ?.
This apart, we all had a great stay at the brilliant apartments, would definitely stay here again.
p.s. mr cod does fantastic fish& chips, & great sunday lunches ( 5 min walk to right of entrance of apartments)., steens restaurant was nice, but mama ribas tavern was superb, much better (and cheaper) than steens,( it's opposite spinx bar & mcdonalds about 10 mins walk to right of hotel.

Stayed here for the first time in late May, having been to Protaras before I only wish that we had stayed here before.
Cannot fault anything, great service, great location, brilliant staff in particular the receptionist, Eve and Holly who ran the Thomson Kids club were the best that our kids have been too.
The hotel is spotless, nothing is to much trouble for any of the staff, Mariana who is employed by the hotel to provide daytime entertainment was excellent and kept everybody entertained, brilliant hotel, already booked to go back next year.

Just arrived home after 2 lovely weeks at the Brilliant.A big thank you to the Thomson rep.(Nicola),the pool and entertainment girl Marianna, the kids club girls Holly,Eve and Helen and the desk staff who are all so friendly.
The appts.have all been recently refreshed and had everything we needed for our family hols, the only drawback being a poor Wi-Fi service which was chargeable where almost anywhere on the strip it was free.We can't wait to return...

Wonderful studio apartment that I stopped in for a week, having arrived home yesterday. Very smart looking block of apartments. Exceptionally clean everywhere including the public areas. The room was large and the bed huge and exceptionally comfortable. Proper sized fridge and a double electric hob which was more than sufficient for what we wanted. The bedding was changed twice during our stay and the room cleaned and towels changed daily. I managed to get a sea and pool view which was a bonus for me and the view was wonderful! The location of the apartments is tremendous. Having Lidl right across the road was superb and stocking your fridge with cheap beers etc... a doddle!!
There is a safe in the fridge which costs €15 per week. There is a good sized wardrobe and plenty of drawer space. The bathroom was a little small but more than adequate for what we needed.
It was just a short walk onto the main strip and the onto the beach. I absolutely loved Protaras. It was totally hassle free from restaurant and bar touts, that was a refreshing change from anywhere I have been before. The sea was spectacular.
I will definitely be returning to Protaras and will be staying once again at the Brilliant Apartments which are perfectly named!!
