“Great restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2010

At first I thought this was a nice looking beach café, but it turned out to be great restaurant. We ended up eating most lunches and dinners here. Their fruit plates are really tasty, and they also have take-away (if you ask). We never had to wait for service, and they made sure that we were pleased. Loved it!

“If you want to experience being invisible go to this Restaurant”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2010

This was without doubt the worst restaurant we visited during our holiday. The food was awful and the service is the worst I have experienced anywhere.

When we arrived and sat at the table a waiter immediately brought cutlery, then nothing, we were just ignored. After a while I managed to get the attention of one of the many waiters scurrying about and asked for a menu. While we had a waiter we ordered drinks. Following this several different waiters came and asked if we were ready to order but we said we had only just got the menus and were still waiting for our drinks, and waiting, and waiting. Now you will think that one of these waiters would have checked to see where the drinks where – wrong! – they did nothing. To cut a long story short we finally managed to get drinks and ordered our meal.

This was when things got even worse. The starters arrived, they were quite acceptable, the only part of the meal that was. Then finally a waiter came and cleared the starters and asked if we would like anything else. Yes, we said we would like the main courses we had already ordered. Took the opportunity to order another bottle of wine, the first one was a carafe which was free with the voucher given in the welcome pack. You may think we drank that quickly but believe me when I say by this time we could have got through half a dozen bottles of wine.

The main course when it finally came was totally inedible, my chicken which was a kebab type thing on some sort of metal contraption attached to the plate, was so dry and overcooked it was like drying to chew cardboard. All the other meals were as bad.

We decided to just get the bill and leave but this was easier said than done. We asked for the bill and waited and waited and waited. Finally I said if we get up as though we are leaving they will soon come. This worked and the bill was brought. My husband casually said to me “they are that useless here they will probably charge us for the free carafe of wine”. You’ve guessed it when the bill came they had indeed charged for the “free” carafe of wine and that was when my husband (who never normally complains) finally flipped and asked for the Manager. The Manager, when he came, turned out to be one of the waiters we had told were still waiting for drinks so this didn’t inspire me with much confidence that he would be interested.

After a long period of much apology, excuses and repetition of the same he agreed to deduct the price of the “free” carafe of wine and also take a percentage off the bill. We agreed, paid up and rushed over to the Nissiotis for desserts and coffee where we knew we would get prompt, friendly and efficient service.

This Restaurant obviously caters for a lot of big parties and seems very popular for some reason. Maybe we were unlucky but I can’t help but think when there is no system of waiter to table allocation this sort of thing is always going to happen. We must have had at least 8 different waiters at our table over the course of the meal and yet none of them actually did anything. Not a pleasant experience which was a shame because we enjoyed everywhere else we ate in Protaras.
