My partner and I stayed at the Odessa Beach Hotel for two weeks on a half-board basis. The hotel was nice as was the pool area. However during our stay there was building work between the pool and the beach which I found spoilt the view, also it was noisy some days whilst work was being carried out.

The rooms were nice and light, they were cleaned every day and we received clean towels everyday.

The staff were excellent and the service was great however the food was no so good, it seemed to consist of different kinds of food which did not go together and was very repetitive. Although we were half –board we went out to some of the lovely restaurants along the street.

Sofa Sofa bar turns into a local nightclub which was good and had fantastic air-con however everyone smokes inside. Some other reviews complain about the noise but we did not hear anything from the club from our room.

The hotel location is really good and the beach is beautiful, there is a promenade which goes the whole length of the town and is really nice to walk along.

I would highly recommend a trip to the Troodos Mountains in a Jeep, it was fantastic day out and the driver was brilliant, this trip was booked from the travel shop towards the McDonalds (turn right when you leave the hotel).

So this was my second time going to the resort of Protaras, the first time I went with my family and we stayed in The Sunrise Beach Hotel, which I would recommend to anyone, absoloutley fantastic and really gives you a feeling of luxury. This time round I went with my boyfriend and we were on a slightly steeper budget so decided that we would stay at the Odessa. I cant say there are really any major faults with the hotel, the rooms are a decent size with air con, the hotel is very clean, the pool is lovely and your right in the middle of the strip. The few small faults i would point out are that the decor is slightly dated, its not as close to the beach as it looks on the picture and the food was VERY basic and bland. We payed for half board and although breakfast was okay, we only ate our evening meal in the hotel 2 nights out of 7. There were much nicer places to eat on the main strip so i would recommend staying B&B. Another fault we found wasn't the hotels fault, it was more to do with thomas cook. During our stay there was some building work going on which had clearly being going on for a long time. We weren't informed of this building work when we booked which I believe we should have been and it did slightly obstruct our sea view. Although there were a few tweeks that could have made the hotel better, we still had a lovely holiday and if I was staying on a steeper budget again I would return to the Odessa - although i think i would prefer to spend the extra and go somewhere a bit more luxury!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Odessa for 2 weeks at the end of may begining of june 2013 on a half board basis. The pictures from the Thomas Cook website and brochure arn't a good representation of the hotel at all, from the pictures it looks much more luxurious and well cared for. I would only recommend this hotel as a b&b as the food was really bad, I found it a struggle to find something to eat most of the time, I would say the food wasn't catered to british tastes as a lot of the food was quite strange and it came to the point of us eating out everyday even though we had paid for food at the hotel. The hotel was clean and rooms were cleaned everyday however our bedding was rarely changed, I had to ask for our bedding to be changed after 5 days of waiting. Most of the staff were lovely, especially the male receptionist in the evenings, he would always say hello and ask how our holiday was going. The building work wasn't as bad as some reviews have suggested, most of the time we didn't even notice it. We will definatly go back to Protaras but probably not to the Odessa considering the price we paid and what we actually got for our money.

*When choosing somewhere to eat try the 'Cheers' bar, it doesn't look much but the food is lovely and a good price the service is brilliant too!!!!

My husband and I stayed at the Odessa from 30th June - 16th July 2013, Last minute holiday booking. We found the staff excellent, very helpful and friendly. We did not stay around the pool during the day as we like the beach far better. When we happened to see the entertainment staff they were absolutely terrible. The hotel was clean, the rooms were cleaned every day with a change of towels also. The beds were changed every three days and having the air conditioning in the room was appreciated as it was very hot. I was not happy with my pillow as it was not as clean/smelling as it should of been, therefor I had to cover it with a towel to mask the smell! The food was absolutely dreadful as it was so bland and very repetitive. The dining room was lovely and clean, all done in white with Starched white table covers, and again the staff were wonderful and very professional. I do think that a few tweaks are very much needed regarding some issues, but overall we had a lovely and very relaxing time in the sun. We won't return to the Odessa.

had a lovley holiday, but the photographs in the thomas cook brochure need updating,
this is mis selling, the hotel itself needs some improvements, the staff on the bars and restaurants were very nice and friendly, reception staff not as nice, food was excellent as were the drinks, bedrooms beds comfortable, pillow not it was like a sandbag, bedding very clean, furniture looked new apart from the wardrobe dropping to bits, bathroom was clean but smelt of wee, towels were small and hard, cleaner did not always renew toilet roll, air conditioning ok but had better and did not work last night of holidays so therefore had no sleep. as for the building work going on it was about finished when we arrived, a bit of dust on the way down to the beach, but nothing to winge about, they say it is a beachfromt hotel - it is not. Would go back to Protaros but not the Odessa - sorry!

Room Tip: get one overlooking the pool, that would be nice

The Thomas cook entertainment team this year were terrible, I don't know what happened to the one stop entertainers which were miles better in previous years. The only activity people participated in was snowball bingo just because they could win some money, all other activities didn't really happen. They just walked around the pool asking people with no enthusiasm to participate. The gym could also be improved as the dumbbell s are very old looking. The entertainment team is why we will not be back next year.

Room Tip: Sea view is worth it at the minute as there is a building site behind the hotel

We stayed at Odessa for 2 weeks mid June after being moved from Silver Sands to all inclusive at Odessa.

We found there to be good and bad points at Odessa. The hotel room was nice, really comfy beds but the walls paper thin and everything can be heard, even the people upstairs going to the toilet! Doors slamming at all hours, the cleaners banging around early! Don't go if you expect to get a lay in as this hotel is the noisiest we've been to! Also,at the weekends the Sofa Sofa bar turns into a local nightclub which goes on til around 5am - we were not near it and could still hear it!

The cleaners entered every day and changed the towels, sometimes they did not leave any toilet roll even if there was none left, and our bed wasn't changed at all for the whole 2 weeks.

The staff were variable! Some were very nice, most miserable though! Reception and reservations were rude. The waiters were mainly helpful but a few nights we had finished dinner before our drinks arrived, a couple of nights we didn't get any!

The food was nice, although a bit repetitive but lots of it. You shouldn't go hungry if you stay all inclusive! I never struggled to find something to eat.

The entertainment at the hotel is run by Thomas Cook. They always had something on the go during the day and at night but it did finish early if you like late nights when your on holiday. We went and found entertainment on the strip. It also got a bit repetitive after 2 weeks!

All in all, we would go back to Protaras, but maybe not this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the lifts and on the top floor as every movement can be heard from above!
