The hotel is clean, large, two steps from the beach and from town. The staff is friendly and the place has more or less you may wish from a holiday without struggling with your budget. The swimming pool and sunbeds are lovely. Plenty of sunbeds on the roof too. There's a reasonable variety of food in the restaurant, which for a person with allergies is a good bonus! Underground floor offers beauty treatments and weekly shows (watched a lovely flamenco). Stayed at the big suite on the second floor... Gorgeous! There's food at every time (bar or restaurants). We went on a all included. Lots more but I'd end up writing an essay. It's just nice and good value for money.

Clean, spacious and airy apartments ideally situated for a short break. Friendly greeting on small reception, and nice checkout time of midday. Will return. Nice to watch the world go by, and walk to bakers in the morning for fresh pastries to be enjoyed at the apartment.

Fantastic, very clean Hotel, Food was Excelent, well presented plus a section of food dedicated to difrent countrys each night. The swimming pool was a bit chilly but it was October. Torre Del Mar is not really a British tourist destination which made for a very Relaxing break if you like the quieter sceene

we went to the BQ hotel from the 1st April to 6th April 2013 - on arriving 1st impression was good once inside it became an over 70's home for the Spanish which the hotel apparently catered for; our room was lovely so cannot complain at that.

The food however was totally inedible, breakfast was just passable but dinner was horrid, Torre Del Mar is a fairly nice place but the beach resembles a builders yard.

never again sorry Costa de Sol. J & M Evans

Room Tip: ask for a sea view as the other side is facing all the other apartments

Just got back from this hotel and must say very enjoyable stay if your looking for a wild time with lots of bars and clubs this is not for you there is not even any tourist or trinket shops what you would expect in spain this hotel is in a spanish resedential area and mainly caters for them, saying that we still enjoyed ourselves ,rom were very large and clean great rooftop terrace were we went everyday, bar looked morevlike someones living room than a hotel bar, not enough seats no clocks anywhere in hotel, food okay plentiful ,not a beach persons holiday just black grit and very dirty , but we had a pool.

I always try to make my reviews impartial & sometimes they come across as very formal but they are as they say IMHO.

This is the first time I have been to this hotel so I'll start from the entrance. Disabled access is quite good into the hotel, however the kerb opposite is very high & can present a challenge (The rest of the resort has dropped kerbs or raised crossings). The reception is bright & spacious & the staff spoke reasonable English & only took a couple of minutes to copy our passports/details & point us in the right direction for our room.

Entry into the room is by electronic card, and it worked!!! Like most rooms they are basic but functional & the room was extremely clean. Easy clean tiles are used throughout & it looks quite nice. (Ignore the previous comment about not being able to charge a phone, open the door to the fridge unit & the socket is at the back on the right) The room includes aircon/heating, a shower/bath & complimentary shower gel Etc.

Food, possibly the most emotive subject; we were treated to a few British people giving looks of absolute digust at the food. You are in a foreign country with people of several nationalities at the hotel. If we all ate a full English breakfast the whole world would be obese! You do need to look around to find everything but there appears to be something for everybody. Breakfast included fresh breads, a toaster, cereals, a fantastic choice of fruit & the more traditional scrambled eggs, fried eggs, bacon, sausages, beans, and of course the sliced meats & cheese's that got the dirty looks. Plenty of choice, unlimited amounts of food plus various fruit juices & tea & coffee should set everyone up for the day.

The evening meal (We stayed half board) Again a fantastic selection, soup & bread/rolls. Rice, chips, please don't groan lol, a selection of meats and/or fish, the chef cooking on a griddle, salad, oils, sauces, a choice of meats & cheese, 4 or 5 trays of deserts, ice cream, yoghourts & probably a few bits I missed. As for the heat of the food, you have to remember that the hotel, like most, has a lot of food to prepare & keep hot. While they do an excellent job of replenishing the food they are also up against those ignorant sods that help themselves to food & then leave the lids open, it's probably this mentality that causes the majority of problems.

The bar; I saw the comments about one pump & no optics. The bar is almost complimentary, it's served by the restaurant staff, there's a bell to call them if it's unattended. It's not the focal point of the hotel, there are no optics because as in most of spain, spirits are poured by hand. There are no games machines or bar stools because it's just not that type of bar.

I could ramble on & on about my likes & dislikes but in fairness if you're looking for a reasonable hotel which you can use as a base then this is very good. We all have different expectations but if you're prepared to make the most of the hotel you have chosen, then this is excellent value for money. Just take the rough with the smooth & enjoy the resort as a whole.

We arrived late, after the restaurant had closed and were told that they had prepared an evening meal for us. We had e-mailed to say that we would arrive late, but hadn't asked for the meal which was delicious. We travelled from the airport by train and bus. Take the train for 3 stops towards Malaga and get off at Maria Zambrano. Walk to the bus station, which is close by. The buses are regular until late in the evening. You will need to buy your ticket at the Alsa kiosk before boarding. From memory, the bus leaves from stand 38. When you get off the bus in Torre del mar walk along for a while and then turn left and head for the sea front. Once there turn right and walk along to the end of the town where you will see the hotel on your right hand side.

We had a room on the camp side. We had the sun in the afternoon and wouldn't have known there was a camp site there if we hadn't been told.

The room was a reasonable size with a free fridge and safe.

Breakfast was good with a very friendly German frying eggs or omelettes. The evening meal wasn't so good, but we didn't starve.

There was daily/ nightly entertainment organised by Suzanne, a delightful French girl. We surprised her and a Spanish couple by beating them at Boules. We forgot to tell them that we've been playing Boules on holiday for nearly 20 years. The prize was a bottle of Cava.

The caves at Nerja are well worth a visit. If you are a pensioner please mention it because they appear to hide their pensioner discounts. Normal price €8.50. Discount price €4.

Room Tip: e-mail the hotel and ask for a room facing the camp site.
